This place is intriguing. The atmosphere is relaxing and the service from the staff is positive. Also the chicken tonkastsu I had was pretty good. I have to say thank you to Jimmy who made my first time dining at Oyama a nice experience.

This place is highly underrated. Perfect for date nights, a family meal or a great work lunch. The seaweed salad is insane and the sake is perfect. Great sushi rolls and dinner options. Easily my favorite place in cedar rapids.

Had the sushi maki special.. the spicy tuna and spicy salmon were not very good. The rice used to make the rolls.. the ginger salad dressing tastes like mayo and the miso soup was miso heavy.. won’t be back for sushi..

So many food choices and everything was delicious. Usually vegetarians are stuck with avocado, yam, or cucumber rolls (so boring) but this place has 2 unique vegetarian rolls (for $10 each) and I will order them both, again. My kids really liked the one with mango on top. The one thing I would say is that I hope you have some corn tucked away in the back incase someone from Japan comes in! 😄

I took my son here for his first ever hibachi experience. He LOVED it! We will certainly be back.

The sashimi platter was fresh and well-cut, though the rolls leaned a bit rice-heavy. Staff were welcoming and efficient, and the cozy, minimalist space kept the focus on the food.

We did sushi this trip. Definitely need reservations if you're going to do the hibachi.

We've eaten at this restaurant for over ten years. Always great food, always great service. The Hibachi experience is good as is the typical sit-down experience. Our favorite dining location in the area!

Reservations are recommended for grill. Meal was OK but Yum Yum sauce is watered down. Best to come with a group or you are seated with whoever walks in.

Visited Thursday (7/24) and went and sat on the hibachi side with some friends. My girlfriend and I got the shrimp while our other 2 friends did not. I also ordered the steak and salmon hibachi. The shrimp was slightly undercooked and the salmon was raw. No one remade my shrimp or salmon. Even with a few bites of shrimp and salmon, I got major food poisoning. My girlfriend who had the chicken and shrimp, only had mild symptoms. Not only did I spend close to $100 here, I missed a whole week of work, many doctor visits while in a lot of pain and even a trip to the emergency room. We used to come here quite often, but most likely won't be back.

We went here for our birthdays. We ate around the hibachi grill. It was a great experience. We had 3 kids (11,11,13) and they loved having the food cooked right in front of us. The cook was very entertaining.
