The best sushi and sashimi option in the Cedar Rapids area! Very kind staff taught me to mix wasabi and soy sauce to dip the sushi or sashimi in and it is delicious!!!

I’ve been coming here since at least 2010 and it is always the best atmosphere, but more importantly the best sushi I can find anywhere. Including in all my travels. Portions are beautiful, flavors even more perfect. And the company feels like family. Thank you Oyama for being a staple in my family. 1,000,000 stars!!

Food gets 6 stars, best sushi in town. The servers are always attentive and work as a team. Carry-out is a smooth process at the host station, and dining in is always lovely. Our absolute favorite spot in town. Get the Black Pepper Tuna Tetaki!

I had a great lunch experience here in Oyama. The waitstaff was very kind, upbeat, and happy to serve and accommodate. Each employee that passed me had a smile on their face. This restaurant is very clean, and I enjoyed being able to sit by the sushi arrangement station where I could see the food being made. Everything was fresh and neatly organized / separated. The menu is consise, but still has some chef specials with a unique flair that I don't commonly find at other sushi establishments. The dining area was spaced out and didn't feel too cramped. I ordered something basic, just to test the waters. I got the shrimp tempura roll as well as the spider roll. Not only was the presentation was stunning, it tasted great. Even though it's considered a more "basic" sushi, I thought they did a great job. Highly recommend!

September 2024: sushi Rice was not seasoned properly. Apart from that, good food. The missoshiro was delicious.

Really good flavors and taste. On this visit though, our waitress was very inattentive and when our meals came out, the meat was cold...both my steak and my wife's steak and shrimp. The rice and veggies were hot, but not the meat. They offered to reheat, but we were in a hurry, so they gave us 8$ off the bill.

Service is poor. Waitstaff didn't fill my water enough and they didn't get my order right.

Sushi is lower quality. My roll barely had fish in it and was small. Sashimi deluxe was low quality and small.

Try a different place if you want good sushi.

Celebrated our daughters birthday. Everyone ordered tepanyaki and it was really good. The filet was especially tasty.
