The service here was absolutely terrible. We had a party of 25. Half our party got food while the other half waited over an hour. There was supposedly no manager any any lead for us to talk to. They would not compensate for anything. This was my wife's bday dinner and it was completely ruined. I would never EVER recommend this place. I will never come back. I still didn't get my food

Needs new management. As a customer, I don't like to hear about establishments abusing their staff. I will no longer be eating here.

I am sharing publicly to address the treatment of staff at this establishment. I worked with the company over the course of the last few months. The owner of this business (Sam) during the course of my employment, treated myself and every other member of our staff in an abusive manor consistently. He fired several employees aggressively out of retaliation and without proper cause. He is aggressive almost every shift, and fires anyone immediately and without justification for simply questioning his business practices. I personally questioned the legality of his tip share system and explained that the way our taxes were being handled was illegal. When doing so I was immediately fired for "questioning the way he runs his business". Within 24 hours he explained I would be allowed to continue my employment, but under the condition that I not question his business moving forward. I continued to work for the company and over the last few months have witness the mistreatment of minors on staff. I have seen him fire reliable and friendly staff with zero notice, having asked multiple coworkers to leave mid shift while he (Sam) is in a rage for reasons as simple as advocating for respect to be shown on shift. Last week he fired a college student (Anya)who had two weeks left prior to the return of term, and stated his reason was that she was no longer an asset to the company as she would be returning to school shortly regardless and that the hours should go to employees that would be maintaining employment. Our elderly bartender was also fired in recent weeks for putting in her two week notice as she had obtained a new job but was respectfully trying to end employment. She was told she wasnt dedicated to the job and could leave immediately. This mistreatment falls under the grey area that applies to Iowa being "an at will state". Our customers should be aware that the people behind the scenes of this establishment are suffering and those of us speaking out are either being let go, or threatened with retaliation if we do not agree to remain silent. I beg the public to consider these issues when offering your support to this local business in our community. Our customers have also suffered in situations where concerns are addressed when they do not receive a high standard of service in the establishment. We are living in a time where small businesses are already suffering due to the economic crisis at hand, and I believe that if we are going to support local, that support should go to the businesses that operate respectfully and within the legal standard set within our community, as well as those who value and honor their staff. I have shared these concerns publicly and thankfully have other stable income so the financial blow of termination didn't affect my family as harshly as some prior to myself, but I hope that by sharing, some light can be shed on the work conditions and atmosphere at the Edison to inform those in the community and hopefully help others avoid further turmoil moving forward

Incredible Food and Ambiance! "The Edison Pub and Eatery is easily one of the best spots in Cedar Rapids! The food here is out of this world. I had the airline chicken, and it was cooked to perfection—tender and flavorful. The mashed potatoes were creamy and delicious, and their mac and cheese is an absolute must-try. The atmosphere is so warm and inviting, with a unique decor inspired by Edison’s inventions, which gives the place a really cool vibe. On top of that, they always have amazing daily specials, making it a great spot for any night of the week. Service is great too, very kind staff and welcoming, made us feel like home. Highly recommend!"

My friend and I had a TERRIBLE experience at this restaurant. My food was ok, but hers came out burned. She sent it back and the owner came out and actually YELLED AT HER that she was wrong and that she had to take the food. Needless to say, that rubbed her the wrong way and she refused to pay for burned food that she wasn't going to eat. The owner continued to yell at her in front of many other customers and asked us to leave. I was sitting there eating my food quietly and watching this unfold. At that point I spoke up and said I was shocked that a new restaurant (or any restaurant) would treat their customers like this. She simply sent the food back that was burned. She was not belligerent or rude, she just asked for it to be taken back. He continued to yell at her and tell her to pay for the food that she had not eaten. When I say yell, I mean he actually YELLED loudly at her and us several times. I got a box and paid for my food and we left. He yelled at us again as we left and told us to "never come back here again." I don't care how good the food is, that is no way to treat someone who was nothing but nice and tried to politely send back food.
