This old converted theater is an amazing music venue! I came on open mic night, and was able to jam with the house band who were all amazing musicians! I would definitely recommend checking out this place for food and drinks as well. If you are in the Cedar Rapids area this is a place you must visit!
The Ideal is a beautiful place. I was there for a happy hour.
There is enough p.a. in there for a room that could hold a thousand people.
Now, I'm a special type of theater nerd. I've been in a lot of extant and operating early twentieth century Midwestern theaters tooling around in the Iowa Opera House Project in the twenty-teens. I have a big warm spot for the whole type- spaces built for sound before the common use of amplification.
