Winifred's is an absolute classic. The nice old-school jazz harkens back to an era of class in America. Very dim lighting helps the music set the mood and created an ambiance which is, sadly, a rarity in this day and age.The service is exceptional, and the steaks are prepared perfectly. Unlike most upscale restaurants these days, the portions are beyond generous. As a patron off and on since the late 80s, my only suggestion is that the restaurant be true to its roots. There's something to be said for servers being dressed formally. The menu doesn't need a modern edge either. The quality of their wares is what made this establishment great. A server in a tux-like shirt fits the atmosphere perfectly. It would be nice to restore the classic elements of this gem.Highly recommended, and for all the quality food you're served, well with the price of admission.

Had a Friday evening dinner and sat near the bar. Steak was perfectly cooked and the sides were very tasty. Wonderful cocktail, lovely wine and great service. Recommended as a romantic evening in the restaurant or as a little less formal at the tables by the bar. Menu offers lots of options for meat and fish. Some unique offerings. Bar is well stocked and managed. Service team are lovely, giving space as needed while being available to help and chat.

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a high quality professionally prepared steak or fish dish. Hands down the best steak I have had in along time.

Head chef was cussing out new cooks using extremely vulgar language and easily loud enough for everyone eating in restaurant to hear. Wow is all I can say; this used to be such a wonderful place to eat, and my wife and I will "never" go back. Not sure if owner knows the experience people have here, or if he/she simply tolerates this type of despicable behavior from kitchen staff...highly encourage people to pass on this place. So many other good places to go in town, don't bother coming here. When we told our waiter that we did not approve of the language coming from kitchen, he was sincerely apologetic, but when he went to kitchen to tell head chef to tone it down...the chef responded by I don't give a ___what people think or feel. Skip the embarrassment, and for sure don't take anyone here you are trying to impress. Very disappointing!

Upscale menu, decor and service. The menu has remainder mostly the same since they opened in the 1970's. Great place for a wonderful steak or seafood. New wait staff, but still excellent service

Great drinks and appetizers, then downhill from there. Food was super late, overcooked and cold. Dinner reservations were at 6, we were there until 9. Diaappointing.

The hostess was wonderful. We didn’t have reservations but found us a table. Wait staff was not great. Hour to get salads. Wilted and wrong dressing and food was dry and overcooked. Haven’t eaten there in a while and probably will not again. But wait staff please don’t complain about customers in front of customers when you are to blame for cold food and bad service,

Despite being busy, and us not having a reservation, we were treated wonderfully! Our drinks were always full and the food tasted delicious! Best Creme Brulee that I have ever had!!!
