We live in Sutherland, IA and I discovered that the Gasthaus Bar & Grill in Cherokee, IA, served a Breaded Pork Tenderloin, and so close to us; only 23 minutes and 18 miles. We have traveled great distances to several restaurnts in the last year and a half, tasting the Breaded Pork Tenderloin, many on the BPT Trail in Iowa that were either winners, runners up, or favorable mentions. I don't know if the Gasthaus Bar & Grill in Cherokee has been nominated nor ever won, but the BPT we had today was excellent. This business is very unique in that the setting is very cozy and there are an abundance of interesting postings on the walls in this restaurant that will peak anyone's interest. Also, the service was very friendly and quick. We will surely be returning again. Thanks Gasthaus Bar & Grill, well done!

It's okay, had the bacon blue burger. I've had better but service was great. And you can't hit 100% all the time. I wouldn't hesitate to try again... So give them a try, and you decide....

This restaurant is my go to place whenever I am in town. I am from out of state but have family here that I like to treat. Great food, a lot of variety and fun atmosphere. There is no way you can take in all of the decor.

Today was a very disappointing experience. I did not enjoy the crispy (flattened) chicken breast I ordered nor the not fully cooked fries, nor the very insulting response I received when our waitress finally returned to simply gather our plates and ask if we needed anything else. My mother and sister were in town to visit, as they do every month or so, driving an hour and 20 minutes to Cherokee. When I explained that my meal was disappointing, the waitress returned with an offer of $5 off. I asked if she had seen my plate, she stated of course, I also was informed you do this all the time. Confused, shocked, and insulted I explained that the only time I eat in Gausthaus is when my mother is in town. I asked who said that and she stated she could not tell me. I did ask the other waitress and she stated I didn't say all the time. This all happened during the lunch hour. #1. At food prices at an all time high why would ANYONE pay for sub-par food? #2. The accusation of complaining all the time, which has never happened btw, was not only hurtful but a complete and utter LIE. #3. I want to know when the Gausthaus started treating people like trash. Those waitresses lost out on good tips because I used to order TO GO and complained once when my $30 steak was over cooked. If I'm that much of a "nuisance" then I'll spare them from my presence, my referrals, and my money.

Breaded chicken sandwich was smashed to a 1/4 inch thick with close to 1/2 in of breading which was not fully cooked (breading). Fries undercooked. It was the only place my mom was "ok" eating at. When I explained why I didn't eat I was accused of doing it all the time. Funny, mom only comes here every 5- 6 weeks otherwise I don't eat in. Waitress was rude, condescending and when the other was confronted with her statement she said "I didn't say all the time". Thank you, I think I'll find another place to spend $50.
