We were so excited to be able to eat here as all of the Bennigans in our city have been closed down for years. It was before a show, and we arrived about an hour and a 1/2 before the start of the show in Clear Lake. It was a saturday night around 5:30 pm. The host let us know that we may not get served as they only had two servers on staff along with a bartender. We walked in hoping to get served at the bar, but could see that wouldn't happen either. Several tables sat still with menus and no food or drinks. So, the communication from the host was there, but unfortunately, the service was not. We ended up going to a little place in the town. What a shame!
There were seats open and not that busy. However, there were people ahead of us waiting to get seated and people that came in after us. When left, those same people were still waiting. We stood there for a good 30-45 minutes. We will never go to this restaurant again.
It's been 20 years since we were in a Bennigan's. Food was good and plentiful.
I stopped in here to visit with my sister. We ate dinner here, and I honestly just didn't enjoy my meal. They were extremely busy for a Wednesday night, but I never take away points when service is not the best. My waitress was very friendly. There was someone else helping her that was not so friendly. She was very matter of fact but not rude. My food looked good but didn't taste the best. I'll try somewhere else next time I'm in the area. They definitely won't miss my business. Business was very strong, especially for a Wednesday night. Congratulations.
The little blond bartender is awesome
Food was very good. Had the Grilled Salmon and my husband had the nights special which was a fish sandwich. The fruit glaze for the salmon was really good, but enhanced the effect of the pepper which almost made it spicy. Which i was not expecting. Sides were all good and paired well with the main dish.
My wife got the salmon and I got the fish sandwich. Very impressed. Their fries were top notch too. Waitress was prompt and helpful. Altogether the experience took about an hour.
The men's toilet wasn't functioning, but im sure that will be resolved soon. The restroom itself was clean.
These folks deserve a higher rating than they've currently got imo. Give them a chance if you've got the time.
I really miss this place, especially the Monte Cristo! They all closed around me (KC area) this is the closest one but worth the 6hr drive! Wish they would open back up around me
Okay I'd say they have potential. They are walking distance from a truck stop which could be great for the truck drivers parked next door. However. The price to portion is over rated. They spend more on decor than they do quality food.
I had the Danny boy chicken with whiskey glaze and another had the Danny boy chicken. The chicken breast are by far the smallest chicken breast's you will ever see. I'd probably say it is a breast sliced in half and bottom side used for other purposes. So in essence it is more like 1 chicken breast not 2 as menu says. However that being said one was sent out severely under cooked so had to be sent back. They did fix it. If you order this go ahead and get the glaze added or it's not worth eating. The mashed potatoes are good they need more salt and garlic but edible.
Over all I'd say if you want a drink and a quiet meal even if you have to have it remade it isn't a bad place. Next time I am here I will order something else and review again. I will say there is absolutely nothing Irish about bennigans it's more just a better quality dennys with a good bar. They are extremely slow in the kitchen so make sure you have an hour to spare. I could personally cook every current order in the place in the time it takes them to fix one meal. My brother probably would already be cussing the line cook out and throwing his pans if he was the exec here. Lucky for bennigans he's a chef in oklahoma and not in iowa.
Over all I would not go out of my way to eat here but if you're a trucker next door it's a good bite to eat for you. As a traveling photographer I would never meet a client here. Although if they had a bit better food and quicker cooks I would not mind shooting here as I like the lighting. Maybe they'll be better next time I stop through. The 2 stars are for how slow the overall service is.
Everyone on staff was amazing and friendly. We got mozzarella sticks, a classic burger with fries, and a turkey o'toole with fries. Everything tasted great.

We are truckers and we stopped for the night at the Pilot and walked here. The food was good. I had the fish and chips and my Bf had the chicken breast and mashed potatoes. It was a good price meal for what we got.
I ordered their Lakeside Hurricane and their passion fruit pork chop, mashed potatoes, and broccoli for dinner. The drink was properly poured...kudos to the bartender...and delicious! The passion fruit glaze on the pork chop was awesome and the pork chop was juicy and tender.
Not much has changed for as long as they've been here. Could use some updating to brighten up the atmosphere. Waited nearly 10 minutes to get seated at a non-busy time. Waitress seemed like she was a bit frazzled like it was her 1st time. Maybe it was? Anyways, prices were a bit high, might explain why they weren't so busy for a Saturday. Overall, I would eat here again, but maybe lunch
The food was good and the service was excellent.
