This was our first time in Clear Lake. What a treat!! We knew this restaurant was THE spot for us. Lindsey was spectacular as well as the rest of the staff. So friendly and accommodating, great wine and menu suggestions. The escargot was superb! Our steak was cooked perfectly (medium rare is our preference). We took our dessert to go - wow! Off the charts!! This may have been our first visit to Clear Lake, but not our last. The Surfside will be our #1 go to for the most amazing meal and experience.

Love this place! Interesting menu, tasty food, nice staff. I wish I lived closer to go more often. I mean, how many times have you raved about a restaurant's side dish veggies a day later?
I was able to dine here during a short stay in town. Fantastic food, great chef, friendly service. Highly recommend

Small indoor seating makes for a more intimate environment, but quiet and easy to have conversation. Food was great.
We arrived in Clear Lake last night, Saturday, a few minutes before closing and were graciously welcomed by David, the master chef, and his son, Sam, for a fantastic dinner. We had an aged Cab and then crab cakes for an appetizer with stuffed ravioli and filet mignon as entrees. Steph served everything with class and charm. Atmosphere inside was charming; unfortunately, it was too chilly to eat outside on the fenced patio. Highly recommend Surf Side and we will be back!

We were visiting Clear Lake for a concert and enjoyed an outstanding dinner experience. Stefanie and Sam greeted us warmly when we arrived and seated us with a window view. The French onion soup, salad, and focaccia bread were excellent. The dining area has a European feel with Strasbourg murals adorning the walls. This is a charming location on a quiet street in the shadow of The Surf Ballroom. We look forward to trying out the patio seating when the weather’s warmer.

I absolutely love the Surfside! The ambience reminds me of my travels to Italy. There has never been a single time that I wasn’t impressed by the flavor, presentation, and portion size of my meal. The staff always make me feel welcome, and they even make me feel like I’m home, as different as it sounds. I highly recommend you check it out!

4 of us had reservations & arrived earlier than our 'scheduled" time. There were 2 tables, so, we sat at the bar.. The gal was busy, so we browsed the menu. The kitchen staff told her to expect a 12 ppl resv at 6:30. She replied she would not have room. We waited patiently & told her we would enjoy drinks up until the time of our reservation. A nicely dressed man came out of the kitchen. & told her "Don't feed the 'bar people" Just worry about reservations. While we were STILL WATCHING FOR SERVICE I TOLD HER TO YELL HIM WE DID INDEED HAVE RESERVATIONS... She sat us in the back 4 top & proceeded to wait on the other table (6pp) she brought water & said it would be a little longer. She took the 6top table & then asked us what we wanted. We at that time ( 25 minutes) told her that the man's conversation bothered us & we had decided to eat elsewhere. She was understanding & asked if she could comp our 1st drink order, however, our attitude about 'fine dining' had left... Along with her tip unfortunately...
We DID find another place & that waitress TREATED VERY WELL & I'M SURE ENJOYING OUR (over $50) tip for HER KINDNESS and PERSONALITY in it which the man certainly could use some clarity to on....
We will not be back...

Don't be fooled. This place is closed
The Surfside was our first experience in French cuisine, including French onion soup. Delicious food and fantastic service! The lighting could have been a tad dimmer. Otherwise, it was a perfect Valentine's Day dinner for two.

We arrived at our 7:15 reservation for their 3 course meal special New Years evening and were seated within 15 mins. It took the waiter 30 mins to come and ask if we wanted drinks. The menu was selected for the evening and there was 3 choices. We were told one choice, the filet, was not available. I ordered the mushroom ravioli a Cesar salad and creme brûlée. The ravioli was amazing! The Cesar salad was decent. After 2 hours they came out with an apple tart and stated the creme brûlée was out, “here ya go”without telling us even what it was. No apologies nothing. 3 hour later we leave with our 280 bill. The food was amazing! I had one drink the special was an old fashioned. That was REALLY good! Service was poor. We saw many tables get served food they didn't order and couples waiting 45 mins for their seat. Definitely needs to be organized more. I can live without food not being available and a busy dining area but I do expect excellent wait staff to make up for it. If service would have been good I would have given it 5 stars! After hearing rumors not to go there we gave them a shot anyway. I can honestly say we will not return.
It was big city great! There were three in our party and we each had different starters. Caesar salad, wedge salad and French onion soup which were all fabulous with such presentation! Our main entrees were also a work of art. I had sea bass in a chanterelle sauce, my husband had duck and our son had venison. The venison was medium well and was ordered medium rare but that could have been a misunderstanding. It was delicious anyway. The chef walked around to all tables checking on our food. We had dessert of molten lava cake with ice cream and a crème brûlée. All were wonderful. We had not been here before but will definitely return.
Classical preparations from seasoned chefs. They bring a European flare to high quality ingredients. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The wine list has both old world and domestics options that pair well with the cuisine. Make sure to ask about the specials.
If you like a pretentious restaurant with outrageous prices for poorly prepared food, this is the place for you. The waitstaff is friendly. The best thing on this plate was the side of potatoes soaked in duck grease.
