Yesterday, my husband and I tried El Toro in Clinton. I have long since just enjoyed Mexican for what it is usually is outside of the western states, Tex mex. I was raised by a nana who made a fresh pot of frijoles weekly, that she usually had me wash for her, and roasted her chiles on the comal for her salsa until the smoke cleared the room. Every time she’d see me “Queres comer mija?” and you never told nana no. I had beans & eggs with verde salsa and fresh tortillas with her countless times.
I have never found anything similar to her beans in any state I’ve been to, until yesterday. The beans is always my test, that and the tamales. I judge tamales to be like my Tias, who would make them all day from scratch; the only reicipe I follow myself. Everything, minus the salsa, was perfect. The music had me genuinely dancing in my seat, the food made me want to order seconds, and to add a plus, Jesse found the queso he loves so much from his hometown. The service was great and personable, we had several fun conversations with the staff. I can’t recommend it enough and I look forward to returning. It felt a lot like home.

My wife and I stopped in on Saturday of the Tailgate N Tallboys event and they were extremely busy. I didn't catch the bartenders name, but we were very impressed with her service and patience! She ran the place like she's been doing it forever all while keeping a smile on her face! Please let her know how great she is!!!! And those chicken fajita nachos were amazing! Along with some of the best margaritas we've ever had! We will be back and thank you for the overall great experience ?

Was craving margaritas something fierce... Went into this establishment for our first time ever and our bartender I wish I remembered her name (I know she was roughly about 24yo) we got the perfect time for buy one get one margaritas and they did not disappoint! We all got the Fuzzy berry margarita and I also got the el chapo which was also delish! They were so amazing they even bottle and sell the same margaritas they make fresh for you there. I'd give this place 10 star rating if possible. We didn't eat but we had probably the best fresh chips and salsa I've ever had. Thank you guys for the absolute best experience while we were in town. I would definitely make another trip from the upper peninsula of Michigan back down to Clinton for those margaritas alone!
The hospitality in this restaurant is unmatched!!! And the food is excellent!!! They always make you feel more than welcome, they make you feel like Family!!! LOVE IT. If you're ever visiting here...Give it a try???❤️
