Really good authentic Mexican food. The spice is on point too! These pork tacos were very flavorful!
Good food, and excellent service at the owner ?
Honestly one of the best places for Mexican food I've ever been to. The atmosphere was amazing and the food was to die for (plus very filling portions). Definitely going back next time I'm in town!
Now I know where not to go. I hope they read this and learn something.I have lived in the area for a while, and used to frequent the Mexican restaurant that was here before this one (Nacho Tequilas), and it was good. I had hopes that this new owner would have equally good food/service. I was disappointed. My family walked it to loud music, and about six people sat at the bar drinking. It was Friday evening at around 7pm, and we were the only diners. The music stopped abruptly and we were seated. The waitress was pleasant, but seemed like she was very new. I don't know whether it was due to her lack of English proficiency, but she took our drink order and left us with the menu to peruse. The four of us ordered, and the food came out quickly enough. The plates were cold.I ordered the Burrito California, which the menu suggests is served with French fries but there were no fries on the plate. Instead there was a side of soggy grilled onions. The waitress didn't apologize for this, and gave no explanation, also very bland. My wife ordered the Enchiladas suizas, which also came on a cold plate, so the rice and beans were cold within minutes, and the food was bland. The rice was overcooked. One of my kids enjoyed her Torta, which seemed crisp, and looked delicious. My other child ordered Coctel Campechano, which had no indication on the menu that it was a cold soup. (To be fair, we maybe could've known that) but the menu suggested it had Pulpo Y Jaiba, which I understood to be Octopus and crab. There was absolutely no crab in the dish at all.I have mentioned that the food was bland, (Which I don't expect from Mexican food) but there wasn't a single condiment to be seen in the entire restaurant from my vantage point.I would expect any decent Mexican place to al least have a selection of hot sauces offered, but the most we could see was salt and pepper shakers on the tables. The complimentary chips brought out to the table were hot and crisp and very good, but even they were then paired with what tasted like canned tomato sauce that had some pico de gallo thrown into it.I will not be back, which is a shame, because it's very local.
We went on a Friday night and there was only people at the bar, no one was eating. We got chips and salsa, but we were told they didn't have any cheese dip. Salsa tasted like canned tomato sauce with some onions and cilantro in it. The only wait staff they had had trouble understanding us. The plates were cold when they came out. The chicken torta was good, the enchiladas suizas was warm at best, the rice was bland and over done, refried beans were not good with the cheese on top not even melted. The place that was here before was really good, so I hope with some time the new place can improve.
I loved the chicken Torta, but the they didn't have chips with cheese. Also the service was good except our waiter didn't understand us very well. Over all I though it was good though.
We had our small Cavachon dog with us and they let us bring her in. Staff was very friendly and service was great. The food was awesome. Thanks for letting us bring our dog in.
Came here with my husband after a long business trip. The amount of sodium in all of the food AND margaritas was overwhelming. The service was very slow as well. The only reason we'd come back is for the $2.99 margaritas because they put a nice amount of tequila in them(but they're salty with no flavor besides tequila).
Everything was very salty. Including the margaritas.
I say that the food was good. Service on the other hand. Had to ask for a menu, had to ask multiple times for a glass of water, let alone get a refill. Sat at an empty table for while before just deciding to go check out at the counter myself. The place wasn't busy in the slightest.

VERY SLOW. No waters offered. Dirty tables. Waiter was eating at the bar between customers. Gave up on waiting for our food after 30 mins. Really wanted more than chips and salsa.
The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. It has a very nice atmosphere inside.

Best Mexican food in Des Moines, reminds of South Texas. We had the street taco’s, tampiquena, and enchiladas mole. All were very good. The mole sauce was excellent. Excited to come back for the menudo. The service was attentive and friendly.
Stop driving by and pull in. For years I have driven by. I finally stopped in for lunch. The food was excellent. The chori pollo was excellent. Service was fast, friendly and frequent. Prices are reasonable. Lots of parking available. The inside will surprise you
