“Amruth Indian Grill is a hidden gem of a restaurant. Excellent service and delicious food! The Kadai Vegetarian dish was amazing and complete with carrots, cauliflower, potatoes, and snap peas in an amazing curry. My friend had a Shrimp dish that was divine with a kick of spice. We also ordered Garlic Naan that complemented our lunch. Highly recommended!”

“Wonderfully delicious and extremely quick, Rok the Wok satisfies all my Chinese Food cravings. I miss their soups, tho! Wow! Hands down THE best place for Chinese food is back! How do I know it’s the best, you may ask? The Des Moines Metro voted for several years in a row! I’ve followed these two ever since I met them in Cedar Falls, IA about 23 years ago! When I found out 20 years ago they were opening up a restaurant in Waukee, IA; I had to let the word out to everyone I knew! As former owners of Shanghai in Waukee (y’all know who I’m talkin’ about now), Cityview’s #1 Chinese Restaurant for several years (including an honorable mention for best Vietnamese food) at last had all the respect and accolades they’d ever dreamed of! Where else to go?…But EVERYWHERE! ? The food really is dynamite and it’s everything everybody says it is! The Mongolian Beef and Shrimp, the Governor’s Chicken, and their soups (Egg Drop and Hot and Sour) are the best they’ve ever been! Also, I love that I can order one of whatever appetizer they have! My favorites are the wings, Vietnamese egg rolls, and Crab Rangoon! Be sure to try the spicy Nuoc Mam with the egg rolls! The prices are great for people like me on a dining budget, and they are located in the well-maintained Menard’s parking lot on Hickman Ave in Clive! Super easy to find and get to! They also do quite a bit for the community! Just recently they served lunches to all of the hungry staff members at Hoover High and Meredith Middle School! They really do know how to Rok the Wok! Give’em a try, and I guarantee you it’ll “hit the spot!””

“My husband and I have eaten at Aura at least 5 times. We've also hosted group dinners there. The food is FANTASTIC, and the mussels are absolutely delicious. And I'm from the NW, I know delicious mussels! The ONLY thing keeping me from giving it a 5 STAR review is that the music is too loud, and it's monotonous. Please, serve quiet, enjoyable music to go along with your wonderful food.”

“First time eating here. Friendly staff, fast service, reasonable prices, generous portions and delicious burgers and fries. I enjoyed the mushroom Swiss burger with perfectly seasoned crinkle fries. Our daughter is home from college, and she told us that’s the best burger she’s had in a long time. She had the bacon cheeseburger. Hubby had the double cheeseburger, it looked great too. He must’ve enjoyed it, he ate the whole thing! Glad we found this place, we will be back.”

“The food at Monterrey tastes good, and the service is certainly decent enough. The restaurant, like many chain Mexican restaurants, goes a bit over the top with 'decorations' that are just a little too stereotyped.

I got the chicken fajita this evening, and while good, the amount of chicken in the mix was a bit low. I understand that it's the most expensive part of the meal, but there are several other Mexican places in town that have fajitas for the same price, or even cheaper, and that regularly give notably more chicken than they did.

Overall, while tasty, I felt the food was a bit expensive given how little meat was actually in the fajita mix.”

“The food is amazing, especially the Lo Mein! It is very authentic and delicious. The staff are so kind, welcoming, and give you a speedy service, especially Haven. She always has a huge smile and makes you feel so welcomed. They really make you feel like family and give you the most delicious food ever!

Dietary restrictions: They have plenty of vegetarian options. I would recommend the vegetable fried rice or vegetable lo mein.”

“Driving back to Denver from Chicago, this spot was recommended by a gal at my hotel. Rolled over to the moose late on a Monday and found myself at the bar. Struck up some great conversations with the bar tender and a few locals. Really appreciated the friendly and divey atmosphere. I would definitely come back if I am in Des Moines again.”

The pumpkin white mocha is good in moderation, it didn’t mention spice in the app so wasn’t expecting the spice flavor.”

“Nick’s is always a win! If you’re there, you are family. The staff truly cares that your experience is spectacular. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is top-notch. Twice a month I meet up with a wonderful friend to sit at the bar, eat some snacks, and enjoy a bourbon or martini while she drinks wine. Even with the rarity of my visits, the bartenders treat me like a regular and work to get to know me. You cannot match the level of service! I typically stay for a short amount of time, eat while I’m there, and also take food home for my high school aged children. The to go food is always perfectly packaged and delicious even if it sits on the counter for a bit while we finish our conversation and settle bills. I cannot recommend Nick’s enough. I almost hate to post this review and ruin the truly beautiful experience.”

“I grew up eating The Other Place Pizza at one of the older locations, in Evansdale. I think OP Pizza is the very top of the line of Pizzas, and consider it the gold standard for how a pizza should be. Sure, I like other pies, but OP can’t be beat. Often though, lately, with my high standard, naturally I am disappointed at different Other Place locations if they don’t get it quite right. A little undercooked or over, not enough sauce, served a little too cold, crust not as thick…. Been a while since I’ve had the perfect OP Pizza. Well, today at lunch we went to the Clive location for the first time and ordered at 14” with pepperoni, Canadian bacon, black olives and mushrooms… and it was absolutely PERFECT! They knocked it out of the park! Crust perfect, sauce amount perfect, cooked to perfection, of course the toppings are always top notch. You know it’s good when you’re full and you just want to keep eating. Great job ladies and gentlemen at the Clive location. You made this 40 year old OP Pizza lover very happy today. Lord Bless.”
