Backgrounds Coffeebar & Boutique

On our first visit to Corning Iowa we stopped at Background's Coffee bar for coffee and lunch. Background's was a real treat. They have great coffee, smoothies and sandwiches. I had a strawberry, mango smoothie and my wife had a Carmel coffee, fantastic! Hard to choose from all their smoothies, teas and coffees. We loved their sandwiches for lunch, tasted wonderful. I had a Cuban and my wife had a Monte Cristo. Their staff couldn't be beat, friendly and knowledgeable. They use the back of the room to feature local gift items. We had to get a beautiful coffee mug and some local honey. If we lived anywhere near Corning, we would be regulars.

We decided to stop here while on a trip enjoying the lake nearby. I can not recommend this shop enough. Affordable, kind, amazing customer service, great tasting coffee, and adorable boutique portion. We will definitely be back.

We recently moved to corning and were looking for a place to grab a coffee and luckily found this place!! We highly recommend trying this place if you haven't yet, they will not disappoint. I have tried several and all are amazing!!

Great place to have coffee!

Freindly awesome little Coffee/Gift/Book Shop. They offer a variety of drinks hot and cold, caffeine or not and breakfast items. The book selection small but fantastic and all Iowa authors! They spotlight a local vendor monthly this months being Erickson Farms ?Overall Excellent! We will return.

If passing through town, this is a must stop. Absolutely magnificent ambience, gives such a cosy cottage feel, with incredibly friendly staff. The pumpkin spice latte was bomb aswell.

The atmosphere is also super welcoming, and the baristas are all very kind. I love to hang out at Backgrounds when I need a quiet place to work or to meet up with friends. They also have the most unique handmade gifts that are all made by Iowa artisans!

This is a perfectly charming coffeeshop with a great atmosphere for meeting friends, quiet working, or just hanging out. All their lattes are AMAZING! They are so creative with their flavors and all the baristas are all super friendly. I especially love their books- they are all written by authors with Iowa Backgrounds!

Love this place! Super cozy and charming, filled with character! In love with all the drinks especially, the Iced Lattes! Always a happy and friendly atmosphere! I never stop craving a Backgrounds Coffee :)
