We had fast wonderful service from our server Kaile. The food was very good. I had the fish and chips. Light crispy batter, delicious fries. My wife enjoyed the giant chicken strips that she wasn’t able to finish.

So much potential, but a major letdown. Burgers not made to order as they are frozen patties. Any flavor of burger is hidden by smothered toppings. Should have known when I asked for med-rare and the waitress said they can only cook them med-well. Won’t be back.

Burgers here at at most subpar. They come out lukewarm and are obviously frozen patties bought in bulk. For $15+ burgers, they should be better. Waitstaff was perfectly fine, but please stay away from these bottom of the barrel burgers.

Usually very happy with the food. Even had the same salad last week, but the salad today was disgusting.
To make matters worse, this was a birthday meal. It’s very disappointing, no matter what the occasion, but with today’s economy, with our money not going as far, it makes it even more disappointing that an establishment would not make the effort to serve quality food on every visit. This order was a salad. All they had to do was not put slimy lettuce on the plate.

Came here for lunch. Nice looking place but food was disappointing. Fries were stale. Nashville hot Chicken sandwich was basic and firecracker shrimp wrap had 4 shrimps total and lotta Mac loaded chicken was super dry

They charge 2.65 percent to use a credit card. Lol. Most places build that into the cost of doing business but I'm sure they love cushioning their bottom line by this surprise charge when you get your receipt. Also.. Charging 6.50 for a snifter (10 oz, maybe?) of 6.8 beer I have never heard of anywhere I've been. East Coast, West coast.. that's a ripoff. Especially in Iowa. Service was good. Food average.
Barrel House continues to disappoint but we decided to give them one more chance, and they blew it.
We went around 1500 (3pm) on September 2, 2024. Business was slow, so there's absolutely no reason why our service was so lacking. I ordered a double burger with onions. Nothing else on it, and a side of fries.
When I got my burger, it came with pickles and no onions, so I had to wait to catch our server to let him know my burger was wrong and to please bring me onions (he should have checked for accuracy before bringing it to me, but he failed). I waited around eight minutes and he brings me another refill of my drink, but still no onions! Now, my burger is dry and unappetizing. Meanwhile, the server goes to two other tables that he'd gone to while I had been waiting for him to bring my onions and completely ignoring our table! I had to mention it to him yet AGAIN, and after another few minutes, he finally brought the onions that should have been on my burger to begin with.
I was too disappointed to eat by this point, so I requested the bill so we could pay and get the heck out of there. This is why I left NO TIP and I haven't done that in years, if ever; but it was warranted in this case. Our takeaway? Dine at Barrel House at your own risk.

We used to love coming here but more and more we don’t get a great experience, especially for the price increases. We just wanted a simple late lunch. Restaurant was not busy at all, we sat on the patio and were ready with our order the second the server came. We are the easiest table ever and don’t require much to consider our service good. When the food came our server never came to check on us. We finally got his attention about the wrong toppings on our burger and he said he would bring out the missing toppings. He proceeded to help 3 other tables then said he would be back with our topping which we had been waiting 10 minutes since talking to him and almost 15 minutes total since our food was delivered. By the time we got the toppings the burger was dried out and unappetizing from sitting for over 15 mins. It wasn’t edible. We were so annoyed we just paid and left but we will not return. A $20 burger that was a complete waste of our money and time.

Had buffalo chicken wrap and wife had salad ? both were Delicious ? and for my fellow buffalo lovers this one is legit and homemade sauce. ? Aliecia was a wonderful bar tender. Very attentive and sweet!
