Just got a burger and some chicken straps the other day.....I'd say it's pretty good. Cute little bar. Had 2 pool tables and darts!

Why bother posting a menu list or a link to a menu that has prices from 4 years ago? $4.50 for a burger? Yeah, right. A year ago I ordered burgers and appetizers over the phone and, when I arrived, I was shocked when the bill was nearly DOUBLE the online prices. I guess that's on me for not asking for a total when I ordered. The reason for posting now is that the bogus prices were brought to their attention (over a year ago) yet they are still incorrect to this day. C'mon man!

If I could give zero stars I would. Owner is racist and ghetto. Food is trash and drinks are overpriced. Has the potential for an awesome environment with the sand pits outside but the bartenders need to all get on the same page with what is allowed and what isn’t. My friends and I were the only customers in the entire bar tonight. all 6 of us ordered drinks and were sitting outside playing volleyball. The people there before us (biker group) were outside with their own alcohol bottle smoking weed and it was fine nothing was ever said to them. After about an hour of us being there outside the bartender and a customer came outside calling us ghetto and said we had to leave because we were bringing our own alcohol and causing a problem (mind you we were the only people there at this point) we were playing volleyball and everyone had ordered drinks and tipped the bartender. Not sure what is ghetto about that but we will never go here again.

As much as I hate Iowa, Davenport in particular, the Hawkeye is, and will ALWAYS be, ur typical Midwest “dive bar” - which isn’t always a bad thing. Cheap drinks, great food! It’s the “gold standard” for what a dive bar is and what it truly should be. Ppl need to realize the owner has better things to do besides harass u about a service dog. I know for a fact, bcuz a friend of mine plays volleyball there religiously, and ALWAYS brings her dog without any issues. Unless ur going out of ur way to cause an issue, u must be doing something seriously wrong to get that type attention from the owner. Anytime someone gets that type of attention, in my opinion, is just causing problems to create a non-existent problem and loves drama. They’ve def got some shady characters that come in, but what bar doesn’t - from serious dives or the most expensive places ? However, the working class brings a fun, upbeat change to the dingy bar. Locals crack me up on their POV’s. If u grew up in the Dirty D, and surrounding areas, The Hawk use to be a place NOT to go to after dark and u knew this if you were a true dirty D-er. It’s changed! If you know anything about Daveport, you’ll know the saying of the “west enders”. Food was freaking amazing. Big “D” makes it an appoint to come talk to his patrons after serving them their food. His wife cracks me up. Let’s be real. What bar do u know of that the owner of the kitchen comes out and talks to you when they have time? None that I know of - especially in a bar like the Hawkeye….in Iowa. Amazing food for a dive. I had the breaded catfish. Catfish typically has a bad fish taste to it. Not on catfish Fridays at the Hawk! There’s times I now crave their catfish. Can’t talk enough about their food! My husband hates anything to do w/ fish, but he actually said my catfish smelled really good. The last thing I heard about the owner was that he was an alderman for the “dirty-d”? Could be wrong but who cares? The food cancels that. Lol. Bartenders def need to be replaced. Or more need to be hired. They are so freaking slow! 15-20 mins to wait on a drink is ridiculous - even when the bar only has less than 20 ppl. I get it. U want ur tips U have ur locals u always talk too, but 15-20 mins? It got to the point I was ordering two for and two for my husband. Once we started on the second, one of us went back to the bar to order more BECAUSE THEY ARE THAT FREAKING SLOW! Parking isn’t the greatest either. Its kind of like fend for yourself. Expect a door ding if u park in their lot. U can get blocked in very easily, but to fix that, just park on the dang street! Most parking lots are fend for yourself but other parking situations at least have a little direction on the parking. Bottom line. It’s a hick dive bar, where u don’t catch hepatitis just sitting at the bar - unlike other “dive bars” in the QC area. I gave atmosphere only 4 stars due to the parking issue and shady characters. Don’t be a Karen and just try it. Hats off to the Talon kitchen crew!
