It was my first visit not knowing what to eat . The lady I wish I knew her name .Caucasian mature lady she was exceptional , gave me tips and suggestions. The sandwich was ready in 5mins. No waiting . ** Shocker . The sandwich was great I ate a quarter of it could barely finish it. The king size is great for two meals … jmo . I recommend this if you need a great sandwich . Saved the backed potato for dinner and the rest of sandwich.

They were closing when we came in, but they were kind enough to make our sandwiches.

Ordered a hot beef n cheddar to go. Instead I got a cold sandwich. Not surprised, none of the employees wanted to be there. Very gloom atmosphere.

It's not just this location. Prices keep going up and on top of that they are replacing ingredients and meats with cheaper less quality. I used to get the hot roast beef sandwich twice a week. They switched the meat to an Arby's style roast beef. It's gross! Cheddar fries used to be $3.50. Now over $5. People are noticing. It's one thing to raise prices but to pay more and get less quality and not tell customers it's different is wrong. Due to this Hungry hobo lost me. SAD!
Popped in on our way back to Ankeny, around 3:30. Staff was less than pleasant. Cashier kept rolling her eyes and obviously did not want to be there. The sandwich maker was hard at work. Asked cashier for a glass of water and you'd think we asked her to pump it out of the well. Food was good.
I recently visited Hungry Hobo and was thoroughly impressed! My sandwich was made fresh to order, and the bread was the softest I’ve ever had at a sandwich shop—absolutely perfect. They are generous with the meat and top it off with large slices of provolone, making for a deliciously satisfying bite. One thing that stood out was the mayo—it had a unique flavor that I hadn’t experienced before but really enjoyed.
We also tried the spice cake, which had great flavor, though the icing was a bit rich for my taste. Still, it was a nice treat to end the meal.
Overall, I highly recommend Hungry Hobo if you’re in the area. Fresh ingredients, great portions, and fantastic flavor make it a spot worth visiting!

Great Food Best Hungry Hobo In QC!
Overheard the manager telling an employee not to tell me about the Souper Sunday special so they could make more money. I appreciated the decor, but nothing else made it worth it to visit this store aside from being across a lot of popular stores
Foods always good but today we went to eat there and they where mopping the floor during business hours and has so much chemical in the bucket we took out food to go, we both got a bad headache, our lungs are on fire, and feel terrible. 👎👎👎 I can only imagine how bad it would have been if we just stayed to eat.
Empty at 1:00. The manager seems awful.
I requested bread toasted (their bread needs it) and instead of the manager telling me straight on that they can't, the employee had to ask the manager who in a hushed tone told her a reason. The employee then says they cant to me.
At hyvee where I used to work, if someone had a request we couldn't fulfill, we always were honest and if the manager was there she would apologize and give a reason. I respect honesty. I do not respect lies and hushed tones. If they told me I would be charged to toast the bread, I would have paid. The manager failed to make even eye contact with me.
I would rate lower, but the rest of the employees looked sympathetic, and my familys food was fine. I feel bad for the employees; it's probably a bad environment
The only two items I ordered that they got correct were the fries. Gave me a 3 with everything on it and a 7 with cheese. I ordered a 3 without cheese and plain. Also a 7 with lettuce, tomato, onions, yellow mustard, and provolone. The whole time I’m waiting the employees are yapping about whether or not dog slippers would be allowed at work because they said no crocs but didn’t specify. Focus on the food please. Will not be returning anytime soon.
