It's been years since I ate at Maid-Rite. I forgot how plain it is. Basically, a Maid-Rite is ground beef that is lightly seasoned (barely), diced onions and dill pickles. The sandwich unfortunately tends to be on the dry side, but the fries were crispy and tasty, and the chocolate shake was smooth and rich. We had a great lunch meal.
Unique place to eat. I had a couple when I was a kid when I lived in Colona, Illinois. My dad always talked about the Maid-Rite before I ever tried one. And now anytime I travel anywhere near one I take the time to go there and eat.
And the waitress was great at this particular restaurant.

Always love stopping at Maid-Rite! The loose meat sandwiches are delicious and perfectly seasoned, and the fries and shakes hit the spot every time. The staff is friendly, the restaurant is clean, and the service is quick. It’s that perfect mix of classic comfort food and small-town charm—highly recommend!
