Chef's Island Express is an absolute gem, delivering an incredible culinary experience that transports you straight to the Caribbean. From the moment you walk in, you're met with the friendliest staff, whose genuine warmth and attentiveness make you feel right at home. They are happy to guide you through the menu, ensuring a wonderful experience from start to finish.
The food itself is nothing short of phenomenal. The Jamaican jerk chicken and Hawaiian rice are a standout combination, with the meat so tender it falls right off the bone. For the price, the portions are unbelievably generous—you'll likely have enough for a second meal, making it an exceptional value. Every dish is fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection, capturing the authentic tastes of the islands. Whether you opt for a savory rice bowl or delicious jerk tacos, you can't go wrong. The quality, taste, and cost-effectiveness of this place are truly unmatched.

My husband and I were amazed that the food actually tasted better than it looked, which was amazing ❣️ I got a salad with huli huli tofu & tango mango dressing. He got adobo steak.

This was just a mile from my hotel, so seemed like a good place to try. Ended up getting the aloha combo, which got me both Hawaiian pulled pork and huli huli chicken on rice. The spicy option actually has some solid heat to it, though nothing too hard to handle. The coleslaw here is some of the best I’ve had. Really good start for meals on this trip.

We used to love Zeke’s. Under Chef Jason Stewart’s leadership, the food had depth and quality, and the atmosphere felt genuinely welcoming — warm, creative, and true to its Hawaiian fusion roots. It was clear that a lot of care went into everything, from the ingredients to the environment.

Sadly, that’s no longer the case. Since the ownership change, the experience has declined significantly. The food was overly salty and lacked the layered, complex flavors we remembered. Portions were smaller, but the prices remained the same.

The atmosphere also felt completely different — sterile, impersonal, and strangely artificial. Jason’s wife grew up in Hawaii, and the original decor reflected that with authenticity. Now it feels like a stripped-down, fake tourist version of what it used to be. Even the dishes seemed dingy, like they might be secondhand — a small thing, but noticeable.

We truly wanted to support the new owners, but this isn’t the Zeke’s we knew. It doesn’t feel like a place designed to welcome regulars back, and unfortunately, we won’t be returning.
