Sometimes, a friend will take you to a birthday dinner at La Rana and because he snuck away and paid for all the drinks at his own birthday dinner a while back, you want to get him back and pay for the drinks at your own.Well, these waiters and waitresses will help you with that. Even if your friend pulls a lot of weight in the community. And also, the food and service is spectacular.

I love this little bistro gem. It has been my favorite for decades. It's a small place and exceptionally cozy with the mouth watering fragrances from the open kitchen wafting through the air. Their staple Tomato Basil soup is my favorite I've rarely been disappointed by one of their pasta offerings. Great place for intimate conversation and laughs.

We had a mini reunion of Luther alums who spent a year abroad in Nottingham, England. We had limited time so lunch was our best option. Gail, from Agora Arts, had recently written a recommendation and three of our group already had previously enjoyed visiting La Rana. All seven of us enjoyed a fantastic meal. The service was enthusiastic, welcoming and helpful. The food was delicious and served exactly as described. Next time, I hope, we’ll be able to enjoy dinner and have either a nearby hotel reservation or designated driver (since we were in six different cars with relatively long rides home). Super recommend this place.

The food is always scrumptious, it's a seasonal menu I think, so I haven't gotten the same thing twice...the drinks are lovely and the service, while being on par with this small town's standard, is still in keeping with the cost (proficient and helpful). I recommend getting a reservation or at least calling ahead since it's a smaller restaurant/space/menu.

Excellent and reliable bistro serving Decorah for many years. Small menu full of local ingredients and excellent preparation. Drink and dessert menus are also tasty, and service is impeccable

We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door. Sat at the bar and received great service. I got the crab cake sandwich with tomato basil soup. My husband had the reuben with fries. Both were delicious, homemade, and had great flavor. The atmosphere was energetic, and the place was busy the entire time we were there. Highly recommend!

Tiny but mighty! This is one of our favorite stops. The atmosphere is fantastic with great service and delicious menu options. A must visit if living in or traveling through Decorah. Choose your time of day wisely, though. It's always packed.

Bravo!I asked my aunt, who lives in Decorah, where she wanted to celebrate her 95th birthday and she said "La Rana".Their incredible food and exceptional staff made our experience very special. A lit birthday candle arrived in the empty glass for her to be enjoyed with our wine order. It was such a playful touch and very festive! She and my husband enjoyed the salmon with butternut-sage risotto, greens and apple compote. They both said that it was the best meal they have had in a very long time. I ordered the braised pork fettuccine, and when I took my first bite, I loved it. Savory, meaty, and delicious!La Rana's team was very kind with a decadent birthday treat for her dessert. From the start to the finish, it was a fabulous evening. This was my second time at La Rana. I had been there 2 years ago for another aunt's 80th birthday., Exceptional all around, each time. What a treasure for the community to enjoy!

This is a very small, intimate and cozy bistro. They allow 90 minutes for dinner service. You can not just hang out at your table all night as they have back to back reservations. Reservations are an absolute must. With this said, the service was very friendly. Our server was terrific - funny, warm and answered all our silly questions. The food was outstanding. Highly recommend the scallops. Wine list is short but very very good. Their craft cocktails were delicious.

Enjoyed eating here! We stumbled across this place while visiting the town. Very nice staff and the food was awesome - very fresh! Highly recommend. I got the tuna salad and the other person in my party got the tacos (which were shrimp) with a side of tomato basil - which was AMAZING! Our drinks were coffee and fresh squeezed lemonade.
