Great food as always, but I miss the chalkboard menu.. really gave this place that additional feeling of cozy and comfort. Also, the music here varies so much. Would be nice if it was more coffee-house appropriate.

A very good restaurant that has navigated the desire to not provide a waitstaff fairly effectively. Good food, pleasant staff but the atmosphere is constantly ruined by the beeping indicators they hand everyone getting a drink. I found them to be noisomely irritating, almost painful to my tinnitus. One would walk past, then another, and another. Dropped in their basket they often beeped for another minute. If I lived here this would absolutely prevent my return. Have them vibrate or just use the lights. But a constantly ringing alarm coming from every direction, that’s bad, m’kay.

This was a great place to work. We pulled out our computers and drank coffee/tea while completing our projects. The music isn't too loud and we didn't feel like we were taking tables from other customers as there was plenty of room. The buttermilk pancake was good (plenty of butter and syrup) and the raspberry pastry was delicious, too. Definitely glad we popped in here to get some work done and will probably return in the future.

Food was terrific! You should get a couple cans of soda for $1.75 in my opinion. There was a worker there, somewhat older gentleman who looked to be a busboy, and he was not in a good mood. He rolled his eyes at my service dog (which was very hurtful considering he is a service dog and he’s very well-behaved) and when my mom put her soda can by the trash because it was full, he picked it up and slammed it down in the trash. Also, the back bathrooms hand dryer should be moved because I was going to stand up from the toilet and I hit my head on it.

Just had lunch at Magpie- our first visit. The food was good . Our group of 7 enjoyed the different sandwiches, wraps and salads. The coffee drinks were also good. By issue is the lack of service. You have to place your order in front of store. Then go pick it up. Then they tell you to bus your own table. But of course they still want 15% tip or more. Ridiculous. Won’t return. If I have to do all the “work” then what’s special about going out to eat ?

This is a very cute place for some food and/or coffee. They have a vegan section which is wonderful. It just wish that there were some better protein options. It’s my second visit, and I got the scramble both times. It’s a LOT of potatoes.
Vegetarian options: It’s nice to see so many non-meat options.

We spontaneously decided to eat here, my husband ordered the porterhouse burger. I had the turkey bacon, avocado Panini. My husband was blown away by his burger, and when I took a bite, I agreed, and I knew that’s what I would order the next time I came, although my sandwich was very good too. My husband said it was one of the top hamburgers he has ever had in his life. Soooo. Delicious! Living almost 4 hours away, we will be thinking a lot about that burger until our next return back to Decorah!

Cute place. You order your food and drink at the counter. When the food is ready it will be delivered to your table. Get your coffee where you placed your order. Kid friendly.
