We came down for the day , happen to see this cafe and decided to give it a try! I had the Palisades 🥙 and i give it a 10/10. The dill sauce is amazing i wanted to dip my pits in it 🤍😁 The staff were amazing and sweet/helpful! The atmosphere was relaxing and i enjoyed seeing whom i assume were regulars interacting with staff as well! Perfect lunch before i was proposed to! 💍 🤍🖤

Magpie Cafe & Coffeehouse is a favorite stop of mine since I moved back to Decorah in 2014. Today, the service was especially exceptional. I ordered a vanilla latte and it was too strong. I was hesitant to say anything but I could not drink it because I am not a coffee drinker. When my breakfast was deliver, I mentioned that it was too strong for me. The server was so helpful and brought me a couple shots of vanilla and even stirred it. Now it was perfect and I drank all 12 ounces. Thank you for the 5 star service.

Friendly staff, cozy atmosphere and excellent food and drinks! We stopped in for breakfast and coffee, and I’m convinced there’s not a bad item on the menu. The biscuits and gravy were particularly excellent, and the Irish coffee was definitely a kick in the teeth to start the day. I only wish we lived closer so we could visit more often!

We were in Decorah overnight and were looking for a place with good coffee and breakfast. This hit both categories very well. Pumpkin latte was perfect, not too sweet. Lemon blueberry scone was outstanding. Omelette and avocado toast were very good too. Staff made us feel welcome and at home even though we were out of towners!

Great food as always, but I miss the chalkboard menu.. really gave this place that additional feeling of cozy and comfort. Also, the music here varies so much. Would be nice if it was more coffee-house appropriate.

A very good restaurant that has navigated the desire to not provide a waitstaff fairly effectively. Good food, pleasant staff but the atmosphere is constantly ruined by the beeping indicators they hand everyone getting a drink. I found them to be noisomely irritating, almost painful to my tinnitus. One would walk past, then another, and another. Dropped in their basket they often beeped for another minute. If I lived here this would absolutely prevent my return. Have them vibrate or just use the lights. But a constantly ringing alarm coming from every direction, that’s bad, m’kay.

This was a great place to work. We pulled out our computers and drank coffee/tea while completing our projects. The music isn't too loud and we didn't feel like we were taking tables from other customers as there was plenty of room. The buttermilk pancake was good (plenty of butter and syrup) and the raspberry pastry was delicious, too. Definitely glad we popped in here to get some work done and will probably return in the future.
