Hotel Winneshiek is a great hotel located in the heart of Downtown Decorah. The staff are very welcoming and accommodating and always do their best to make you feel welcome. I would highly suggest visiting the bar and sitting outside for a cocktail. Lots going on here - would be a great place to have a wedding! We will be back.

My daughter and I enjoyed our visit very much. The hotel is clean, and the beds are very comfortable. We also enjoyed a few drinks in the sophisticated but friendly cocktail lounge, and it was a real advantage that most everything was within walking distance.

Really cute historic hotel. Comfortable beds and rooms. Walking distance to several restaurants and shops. Great location. Friendly staff. Only thing I would improve would be the breakfast. They only served cereal, muffins, bananas, etc. It would be nice to have something hot, even if only a breakfast sandwich or something.

A wonderful overnight stay in a grand hotel that exudes its history. Magnificent lobby with fine wood finishes. Breakfast was adequate. Room was comfortable, even though the bed seemed soft. Looking for an excuse to return.

The room was clean and rather large. It's a really cool hotel placed in the middle of shopping and restaurants. They advertise a breakfast, but it was cereal, yogurt, and pre-package muffins. I probably wouldn't stay here again since it was a bit pricey. The jetted tubs had jets that barely shot out water.

Great location; beautiful, period furnishings; large room and bathroom well appointed; very helpful staff; excellent bar with specialty drinks, tiny bites, and friendly bartender who gave us a free bottle of Prosecco for our 40th anniversary. Fantastic overall experience!

For less than the price of a chain hotel out along the highway, this hotel had a great location downtown and was a wonderful change of pace. Loads of class and charm. Wonderfully clean and a king size bed was a nice option.

Stay there. You won’t be disappointed. The rooms were excellent and Melissa at the front desk was so helpful and sweet. The Bar is closed on Sunday nights and our group of eight would have liked to experience it, but it was bad timing. We will go again so we can have fun there too.

Hotel Winn is a lovely vintage hotel. The historic ambience and décor is very endearing. Great bartender, Stacy was fabulous. Great service and very knowledgeable about the area. She was able to tell us about all the not to be missed sights and activities. The downtown area surrounding the hotel has wonderful local shops and places to eat and drink.
The hotel is located in the heart of downtown Decorah. Everything is within walking distance and it’s just a short drive to Luther College. The rooms, although a bit small, a very clean and comfortable.

There really isn’t a more stunning place in downtown Decorah to sit and enjoy the Water Street views at night. Excellent drinks. Great appetizer menu. A special shout-out to Stacy who provided excellent service and friendly conversation when we were visiting the area under difficult circumstances. We won’t soon forget your kindness!

We enjoyed the historic aspect and feel of the hotel, as well as being downtown where we could walk, eat, and shop. Also, we liked that it doesn’t have the LONG hallways like the chain hotels do, where invariably kids will run down them and back, and down and back, etc. I don’t think there were any kids there during our stay. Our room was a bit noisy, being so close to the HVAC system, I think. But that was minor. Also, we’re used to staying at hotels with either a gift shop or concierge-type service. Small items people forget when packing would be nice to have available right there in the hotel. If we’re ever in Decorah again we would definitely stay at the Winneshiek.

Clean, convenient location, friendly and helpful desk clerks. Cost was favorable compared to alternative options in the area. The continental breakfast was all that we needed to start the day. Only had to start the car one time. Otherwise, everything we needed was within easy walking distance.
