Food was delicious, atmosphere was great, and the staff was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. We'll definitely be back.

Food was great, just wish they had a little more variety. The prices were what you would expect from a sushi place. The atmosphere was nice but I did not like the area I was sat. It was WAY too close to the bar for the party size I had. But overall a great experience.

I didn’t take stars away because it was still ok! I come here on Friday Saturday nights usually and love it. I have a server that I just love named Abby and that’s why I come. However I was sad no Abby this weekend. I hope to see you next weekend Abby! You are most of the reason I come to Blue Sushi! You were very much missed!

I come here often and always have a great experience overall! Everyone is really helpful and their happy hour may be the best deal in dsm, I’m gluten free but Abby was able to accommodate everything and was just an overall sweetheart, we’ll be back!!

This place is literally my go to for everything especially the sangrias! And then theres ABBY!!! The best server they have. What a beautiful soul and a great asset to Blue Sushi! I love her service.. fast, intelligent and very sweet and always attentive. My favorite roll is the Cowgirl! Unreal flavor, it tasting like a burger in sushi style 💜I love coming here just to unwind from the day to day stresses just sit out in the patio and chill. Thank you !

We love the ambience, the food and the staff! Everyone goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. For appetizers we had Edamame and Crab Rangoons. We were able to meet and thank the sushi chef, Brayan. The sushi is by far the best in Des Moines! The Tidal Wave, Super Asparagus Hotel Cali were delicious! We also enjoyed the Beef hot rock. ( highly recommend!) We finished our dinner off with Mochi (espresso, mango, and lychee) A perfect night out! The manager, Olivia, came over several times to check on us to make sure our experience was perfect! 10/10 experience!

This place is delicious! It’s unusual to find vegan sushi options and these are outstanding. The happy hour is the way to go for food and drinks.

The food is overpriced and eh, and my server took forever and seemed like he hated his life. The restaurant was empty and there were at least 8 workers walking around looking like they were trying to do something but actually doing nothing, so i don’t get how in an empty restaurant it took 40+ minutes to get 2 things. The restaurant IS cute though.

This is the third time I’ve tried Blue in Des Moines; I’ve been to Blue in Omaha many times and LOVED it. This location has let me down every time :( The sushi just isn’t as tasty or has the same quality as the Omaha location. Also, during this last visit, a take out order, the Thriller (warm) was packaged with a Crunchy Blue (cold). Crab Rangoons were fishy and sparsely filled. There was no wasabi or ginger. I recently returned home to Des Moines after 30ish years and was really happy to know Blue had a location in my hometown. Sadly, it’s not the quality I had come accustomed to in Omaha. I gave it 3 attempts as every establishment can have an off day but the love just isn’t felt at this location.

All I can say is just WOW. I loved the ambiance and the interior design of the restaurant. Great place to have a date or for a celebration. I had the pleasure of having Lexie as our waitress and she was superb. She gave us more insight in the flavor profiles and some recommendations. Her service was great and I would come back just to have her take care of everything. Now for the food, I loved everything except the shittake to me but that's only because of a texture sensitivity I have. The lemon dressing in the brussel sprouts was great. The edamame is the best edamame I've had, it was charred and the spicy seasoning it comes with complements the dish so well. I loved the crispy rice with the spicy tuna, the crispy rice is so buttery and the spicy tuna on top was amazing. The beef hot rock was delicious and fresh. The yellowtail serrano was a great burst of freshness and the spice of the serrano had my tastebuds dancing. The manager, Liv, also got me and my partner a dessert to congratulate on our anniversary which was so kind!!! (We couldn't order more dessert because we were SO full, but the tempura fried ice cream looked soooo good from what I saw other guests) Everything was delicious and I understand the hype now.

We came in as a party of four to celebrate my wife's birthday, and everything from start to finish was perfect. The atmosphere was lively yet comfortable, and the food was absolutely fresh and flavorful. Each roll and dish came out beautifully presented. Menu is a bit on the pricier side but they more than make up for it by the quality of fish they serve! I've been to several high end restaurants and this is basically on par in terms of quality and freshness !! My favorite was the salmon toro absolutely melts in your mouth, and the tuna tower was such a hit at our table! Highly recommend! Our server Kaleb made the night extra special.. He was friendly, attentive without being overbearing. He had extensive knowledge of the menu and gave us excellent recommendations that everyone at the table loved. He even went the extra mile to make my wife feel celebrated on her birthday, which really meant a lot to us. The manager Olivia came by our table to personally check in. She asked how everything was going, made sure we had everything we needed, and genuinely listened as we told her how much we were enjoying ourselves. She even wished my wife a happy birthday and took the time to chat for a moment, which made us feel less like “just another table” and more like valued guests. That kind of personal connection is rare and really elevated the experience. Blue has definitely earned a spot on our list of go to places for special occasions (and honestly, any time we're craving great sushi). Highly recommend!

Friday night my girlfriend and I had the pleasure of dining at Blue Sushi in Des Moines, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. The ambiance was truly impressive — a perfect blend of elegance and comfort that made us feel both relaxed and special. The service was impeccable with the staff being attentive, friendly, and professional throughout our visit. Every dish we tried was absolutely delicious. To top it all off, the manager showed us to the connected Tiki bar where we were able to continue the night with a drink on the house! Overall, the entire experience exceeded our expectations, and I would highly recommend Blue to anyone looking for a remarkable dining experience. Thanks again Olivia, I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

I have been here many times. 90% of the time they do not have the sushi that I want to order. Prices are too high for the quality of food. And there are often things forgotten in my to-go orders. Atmosphere is great on the other hand.
