Not seeing them at the Iowa Bike Expo to buy their coffee we decided to go to their shop, which was our first visit. Coffee is great. Unimpressed with their shop. The to go cups are terrible and only was offered one size, other sizes available if you are staying to drink it there. When ordering the counter gal seemed unimpressed when telling her what I was wanting. Almost like since she had to do more than push the button to dispense the coffee confused her. Parking is confusing as there are no signs directing you that the parking lot across the street is theirs. Only found out from the counter lady when I made a comment about no parking while there was a parking lot next door completely empty but had signs that coffee shop patrons couldn't park there. Don't blame them when another business puts the restriction in place but signage would be nice. I would have left had it not been that I went over specifically to go to their shop. But driving around for 15 minutes trying to find parking to find out that the parking lot across from them was for their customer use was frustrating. Then to be treated like you are an inconvenience leaves a bad taste even when the coffee is good. The gentleman that have been representing this business at the Bike Expo don't reflect the staff behind the counter.

Their lattès are the best I've had in Des Moines. They use oat milk, which foams really nicely. Also, they do some amazing lattè artwork sometimes. The staff is really friendly and efficient. It's located in a really interesting, restored older building, which has a cool vibe. I really love this place.

Oh, and it's a bike shop, too! Haven't had a chance to use that yet, but the staff seems really friendly and knowledgeable. They carry an inventory of high quality bikes. I'm going to get my next LHT tuneup here.

Definitely a coffee shop, barely a bike shop.

Best cortado I've had in months. I wish every place could make them so well. Love the atmosphere. Good place to do some work online. Great breakfast sandwiches.

A great spot to pick up a coffee to go or, even better, to stay and hang out or get independent work done. You don’t have to like coffee or bikes to enjoy your time there but it is extra great if you love both.

Absolutely top tier in everything they do. Have been a long time customer for their coffee and it’s one best in the metro with a great seasonal menu.

Their bike service is also great. I had them build a bike from the frame up and it was very reasonably priced with a quick turn around. Can’t thank them enough for the killer build.

New paved parking lot directly across 28th street as of summer 2025. C&S will validate parking when changes to paid lot in future, so don’t let lack of parking deter you anymore. Lattes are on par with the best coffee shops in town. Mechanics and shop owner are top notch. I was a Rassy’s refugee and found my new home here.

Great customer service and delicious coffee. Also got our bikes fixed up while my husband and I sipped coffee and got some work done. Everyone was so nice and helpful. Great establishment!

Chain & Spoke fixed up my old school 'cross bike and added some fancy parts. It runs like new and I'm super happy with it.
