First time but won't be our last! Wonderful reception from the maitre d. The waitress was amazing and the food was old school family home cooking. I had prime rib and my husband, lasagna. Liked the fact they had petite portions.

This is an amazing place. The history of this location, the food that is a staple in this community. The fresh meat cooked to perfection. The pasta that is made with effort I loved every bit of it.. I’ve known this since I was a baby, but wasn’t able to appreciate it until recently. I went with the New York strip, which was amazingly cooked along with the wine and a great staff that took the time to have a great interaction. It was a perfect evening.. talk to the owner who is amazing … can’t find a better place in Des Moines for a local upscale feeling but welcoming environment with amazing food.

An absolute gem. They have the best cocktail sauce I've ever tasted, so I'd probably suggest ordering seafood just to get some.
I wouldn't recommend the chicken veloute. We both got it and had similar opinions. It's asparagus on the bottom, mashed potatoes on that, a thinly sliced piece of chicken on the potatoes and then a butter sauce with pieces of crab on top of the chicken. The asparagus was good & the potatoes were very lumpy (which I like but not everyone does). The chicken is where it went down hill. It was tough, like a pork chop and had a grease flavor. The butter sauce was good but the crab meat was questionable. The menu said it was 'king crab' but there was no way of actually knowing that because it was shredded up and reminded me of imitation crab. Our waitress (Jennifer) was great and really the best part of our experience. We got the onion rings for an appetizer and they were good. I'm not sure I would go again but they may have other dishes that are good.

We celebrated my 70th bd with family. The food was excellent, they even let us bring in a bd cake that my daughter made for me...cut it and served it. Our servers were attentive and friendly and accurate. Food was hot and very good.
Parking: Resturant is busy and parking is at a premium!!

I haven't even mentioned the table service yet! Jennifer!! Ask for her! She is delightful! She is passionate about her menu, from top to bottom and in-between!
