Changed their hours out of the blue to close at 6pm on weekdays... is it tough to staff this location? Pay more. How are you gonna close a grocery store at 6pm on weekdays?? Thousands of people working downtown don't get off work until 5:30 or later but now instead of dropping by this Hy-Vee real quick on my way home I guess I'll have to go to Gateway Market instead because I'm not about to reward this decision by spending my money at a different Hy-Vee like you're banking on.

This grocery store was within walking distance of our hotel (Hotel Fort Des Moines). It has everything you would need here including Starbucks. They have a great frozen food section as well as a wonderful bakery and meat/fish areas. We were able to get 24 waters for $2.99 which was fabulous. I was able to pick up some snacks for my kids as well as healthy items for myself. All the employees are friendly and helpful. You could basically find anything here you would need- sushi, wine, liquor area, hibachi and more. Also, you don't need to be a special member to enjoy the discounts some items might have!

Uptight, unhelpful-pushing rude-Service Overpriced Lack of producelack of freshness Self checkouts abound, yet there are many staff meandering about. Confusing merchandising Place is miserable.

Stoped here to eat with some business mates since we needed to get some items in Hy-Vee. I had been wanting to try this place and was surprised it was in a grocery store- maybe that is a common thing? The wait staff consisted of the gal behind the bar- she took great care of us. Food came out quick- but was just a burger. I wasn’t disappointed but I wasn’t impressed. All in all I would try another location to see if the hype lived up else where- but if I was in the same situation I would eat here again.

I had the beef and broccoli stir fry and my friend had a handmade veggie sub.The sandwich he said was better than subway my food was average as i guess is expected at a supermarket but the sushi by Nori is exceptional.This supermarket does go above and beyond to please its customers.And is a staple in the area
This location always sells food that is near its expiration date. It happens a lot but Wednesday I forgot and I just brought bread home and found out it was expired the day before. It's like they purposely let the area empty out so they can sell what they have. Smh

I have lived away from Des Moines for several years. I have never found any other grocery store comparable to Hy-Vee, and I have experienced many grocery stores in many states - HyVee is the best grocery store, hands down, from any state!! I miss Hy-Vee and Anderson Erickson dairy more than I can ever say!!! They are the absolute best in grocery and dairy than any state I've ever lived in and visited!!

Wow! First time at this grocery store. Its has EVERYTHING you need. There are several fresh food options, health & beauty, wine and food court style options!!! The food is priced slightly higher than other grocery stores. Very well organized. Great location.

We had pizza and chinese food, everything was fresh and the pizza toppings were cut right in front of us. The only disappointment is market grille has been replaced by wahlburgers, which was pricey for us at the time b(and I really wanted a burger initially).
