Went for the first time last night and was blown away by the flavor they pack into their food! Great quality for the price and they give you so many different foods with your meal. I got the pastitsio and it came with soup, salad, Greek fries, orzo, a little spinach feta pastry. 10/10
THE LADY THE WAITED ON ME WAS REALLY NICE AND THE FOOD WAS VERY GOOD. I WILL BE RETURNING
The food is outstanding and they treat you like long-lost family. Such a warm, lively, special place to spend time with friends!

Based on the reviews, the Olympic Flame Restaurant is a Greek restaurant in Des Moines that has been operating for 38 years in the same location with the same owners and the same chef. The owners are appreciated for preparing delicious gyros disassembled with generous portions. It is an iconic East Village eatery that is as vital and busy as ever. The service is spectacular, with a waitstaff devoted to top tier hospitality. The chef goes to the market every morning to choose fresh ingredients. The menu is full of Greek classics like Saganaki, Spanakopeta, Dolmathes, Souvlaki, Pasticcio, Moussaka, and the Gyro. The gyro is at the very top, with only five perfect ingredients: gyro meat, tzatziki, red onion, tomato, and pita. The Saganaki appetizer is a don't-miss, though their version is deep fried. The roasted eggplant stuffed pita is a fantastic explosion of flavors and textures. The Greek fries are a must have. The food is simple but delicious and consistent, and priced well with generous portions. They also have baklava. This is destination dining in Des Moines and the surrounding communities.
