I’m completely baffled by all the rave reviews for this place. We absolutely love Detroit style pizza and were beyond excited to try Parlor!! What an enormous letdown. I would even go so far to say I didn’t know you could make pizza taste this bad. I think they used whole wheat flour to make the crust which gave it a strange flavor and texture. Interesting choice for a pizza style that is primarily centered around the crust….Missing the classic fluffy Detroit style crust with the crispy outside. If you want to try a decent Detroit style pizza go to Costco and get a motor city pizza and save yourself the time and money of trying Parlor. You’ll easily get a pizza 5x better than anything from here.

Pizza is good, not really happy with the amount of toppings. I get only a few sausage per slice which is disappointing. Cheese curds were good, when there was cheese inside… seems like all the cheese melted away while being fried. I’d say 50% of them had no cheese. Probably would go back if they fix the curd fiasco.

Showed up with a large group and we're quickly seated. Service was excellent and food was delicious! Good size servings, enough to share if not too hungry.

I was hoping this was like Eatery A except in the Beaverdale area with Detroit Style pizza. The atmosphere was spot on, just without customers! The service was good but we were also the only ones eating at 12:30 on a Saturday. I can’t explain it but the Parlor is missing something. . . Then they got our bill wrong(in their favor) and that is how they said it was priced in the system?! But they fixed it when we brought it to their attention. Double check your bill!!!

Amazing Detroit-style pizza! It has a good atmosphere with lots of sport tvs, and they have some games to play too! We did a 1/2 and 1/2 pizza and both were delicious. We also had cheese curds which were great albeit expensive for the portion size. Happy Hour is a great deal for drinks though. Would recommend this place and plan on coming back!

Service was great, but wife and I got ill from what we may have eaten. We both believe it may have been either the chicken on the nacho’s or perhaps the Salsa Verda was old. The salsa did have a sour taste, but we thought nothing of it and just stopped eating it. But we ate enough to make our evening unpleasant.

Went there for brunch on Sunday the 30th of August. Had the breakfast burrito which was delicious. Side of bacon which was crispy but not overdone. My friend ordered the breakfast pizza which was Detroit style, which had somewhat of a unique flavor of crust that I couldn't quite place. Make no mistake, it did not deter from the flavor of the pizza. Rather, it only enhanced it. Fantastic !!!

I've never craved pineapple in my life, nor had Detroit as my first pick in pizza style, but those fat chunks of pineapple with the mojo on my 'I Shot the Sherriff' pizza... man.
That's the pizza you write letters to while you're deep in the trenches and the only way to get word out to the world is some brave little mail dog.
Go little pup. Let all the world know the flavors we were fighting for.

We went to Parlor on a Friday night, place wasn't full, Ashley our waitress was tentative and was patient with our group. I ordered a mixed drink, it was very watered down! My second drink I ordered a Old Fashioned it was better. Food had very good flavor and good portions for the price. Detroit style pizza was also very good. If in the Beaverdale area it worth a try!

Sat down waited 45 mins for a pizza as the only customer waiting for food and it never arrived. Finally when I went to leave it came out in a to go box. It wasn’t even to go. Kitchen sucks. Go elsewhere. I need to go find food now. Horrible experience!

We love to go here for the relaxed vibe, great beer and drink selection, snacks and love the I Shot the Sheriff pizza. What's also unique and awesome is they serve food til close, which is 11 on the weekend. There aren't many good restaurants open after 9 in Des Moines
Parlor is the best pizza restaurant in Des Moines and maybe the best restaurant overall. The Detroit-Style pizza is amazing. Their cheeseburger and truffle fries are also 10/10. The best pizza on the menu is Sweet Jane: white sauce, mozzarella, gruyere, ricotta, spiced honey, and almonds. Great selection of beer on tap. Great atmosphere. Our server was incredibly attentive, making eye contact with me right away every time I wanted anything. We will be back many times.
