Had been wanting to try this place and am very happy I made it in before they close! The service and ambiance were on point. The server explained all of the dishes really well and gave recommendations. He was right when he said everything would be good. Two appetizers, two entrees, and three desserts later and there was nothing we did not love! The chef is so creative with the dishes which can sometimes backfire, but not in this case! The quail and red snapper had the perfect flavor. We enjoyed the experience from start to finish and are sad we won't be able to experience it again.

Great food if you're not hungry. They're incredibly proud of their meals. The service is top notch, just missing a few bites.

One of the best nights of the summer was spent on this rooftop. I love Beaverdale and its many characters. Reed's Hollow provides a perfect backdrop to just relax

I left a restaurant I was dying to love with an empty belly...and pocketbook. Bright side: My gimlet was delicious! The staff was nice and approachable but the meal I had was nothing like I expected. Maybe that's my fault. I ate about 2 bites of the appetizer and 2 bites of the last course and couldn't even try the 2nd course. I consider myself a bit of a foodie and will admit I am particular. I want my hot food served hot and cold food served cold, not a fan of lukewarm food which is what the edible part of my meal was. After seeing that I wasn't eating my food, I explained to the server and was shocked to receive a bill for my entire meal, comping the drink, which was the only thing consumed, irony. I may go back someday but I have a bitter taste in my mouth after paying a steep price for something that was tossed and still had to go to the store and get something for dinner. Bummer

We have never had anything but an amazing experience at Reed's Hollow. The food is always imaginative and absolutely delicious. The cocktails well designed and made, and the service is both perfectly friendly and knowledgeable. I can't say enough positive things about this place. We are fast becoming regulars.

This places is sort of a juxtaposition- it seems like a hole in the wall dive but the food is phenomenal. Jordan is an amazing bartender and all around great person. Super personable and funny. I had beet cured salmon rolls that was just the right amount for my smaller appetite for the day. The parking is offstreet and I was there in the later evening so it was not hard to find a spot. If you want a surprisingly good meal check this place out. I'd be interested in the tasting menu next time.

Amazing place, from the atmosphere, to the food, to the wait staff. I cannot say enough good things about this place!

Fantastic food! My boyfriend and I ordered drinks and appetizers. The food was to DIE FOR! I've never had anything like it. We had brussel sprouts and they were the best we've ever tasted. We also tried the beat fries and corn crab cakes. Service was extremely friendly, atmosphere fantastic, and drinks the were phenomenal too. We will DEFINITELY be back!

Andrea is the best! I recommend this place for a romantic/laid back atmosphere. Food is 5 stars both in taste and presentation. You will not be disappointed. Oh did I mention Andrea is A-m-a-z-i-n-g!

Excellent tasting menu. Patio is the best in town.

Was probably one of the best meals I've ever had in Des Moines!!

The whole experience for dinner was slightly off. The ambiance is a bit strange , as the interior is large but feels somewhat neglected (I think the look is quasi intentional but it was strange nonetheless.) The huge dining area was empty on a Friday night yet the service (which was friendly) seemed slow / disjointed. The food was ok but undifferentiated. All of the criticisms could be written off as nits, except they are charging premium prices for the experience. I am not an expert on Des Moines food scene but I got to think there are better options.

First time there . Great drinks and atmosphere . But... do not go there if you are hungry. Portions are small. Appetizer was burnt....and tiny. Brisket was a joke. Paid $26 for a piece of overcooked fat. Will give a second chance to try other dishes but damn. Also....got hit with a mysterious service charge....

Such a unique and creative menu! Every single dish here is unbelievably delicious and inventive. This restaurant is seriously any "Foodie's" paradise. Whether you're looking for a culinary adventure or just a cool new date spot, Reeds Hallow is a MUST TRY. Plus, it's even connected to an awesome little speakeasy (Small Bar) that has an equally unique feel to it. Food lovers of Des Moines, this is the hidden gem you've been looking for!!!

Haven't tried the food, but the atmosphere and drinks are great. It has a nice rooftop area as well, which is a fine place to feel the wind whistling twixt your armpits in the summertime.
