Amazing food! Their smoked salmon sandwich was spot on! Loved the thin wedges too! Meads, ales, all awesome!

One of the best new places in East Village/Market neighborhood. Fantastic food, great cocktails and staff that is phenomenal. A must ig you're a resident or visiting Des Moines.

Their list of craft beer and whiskey is impressive. Although not a long list of craft beer it was select with a couple from Surly one can't get many other places nearby.

Fun little place. Has a good beer selection and a limited but tasty menu. Check for the daily specials. Skol indeed!

Amazing food, tasty mead, and killer vibe! I haven't eaten something I didn't like yet. Their rotating drink menu keeps me coming back wanting more, not to mention their exciting event calendar. I highly recommend!

I was there for Skøløween and had a great time. I sat at the bar and was helped by Peter and Regina who were super friendly and attentive. They were knowledgeable in their product and helped me navigate their huge drink menu. I had the BSB toddy which is made with Brown Sugar Bourbon and it was absolutely perfect for a cold night out. I also had the Chili Colorado tacos and I'm happy to report they're my new Desert Island food.

Hidden in the middle of a more industrial part of Des Moines, this place has a professional and upscale facade. The tacos were more than a great deal. $12 combo gets you 3 of your choice with a side. Wide liquor, beer, and mead selection.

Great whisky list. Worth it just for that. The food is different. It's good, Viking tacos and suchlike. But atypical. Noisy spot, so go with your loud friends, and not a romantic date.

An absolutely must try and return restaurant. I've only had the tacos and they were amazing. We have eaten at Skol 3 times in the last 2 weeks

Interesting concept bar. Wide selection of whiskey / scotch / bourbon. Food was pretty good (had the Viking taco trio with brussel sprout side). Would recommend a visit.

I was excited to try another culture of food. The atmosphere seemed like a bar/restaurant. The waitress was nice and suggested the salmon taco, which ended up being the only thing that i really liked. We tried 3 tacos each. If you like Pork Belly, you will probably enjoy the taco. I took a chance, but too fatty for me. The salmon taco was really good, but nothing i was super excited to return for. They do have alot of TV's and alcohol selection, so i might come back and enjoy the game. The wings did look good and i didn't try them, maybe ill come back and try the appetizers.

We decided to check this place out, being frequent visitors to Truman's next door. We were pleasantly surprised! Our server was excellent...informative, helpful and right on top of our drink and food order, though not overly solicitious. (Thank you, Heather!). We ordered a few beers, then ordered the taco trio with a side of brussel sprouts and wings (original and J***** The tacos were good, the brussel sprouts were aaaammmazing and the J*** wings were particularly good. Heather offered us a small sample of Mead as well since we had not had it before. There was a lot going on in downtown this weekend, so that may be why we were able to be seated right away on a Friday night. Regardless, we will definitely be back!

We've been here several times already and always had a great time, the food is awesome, the pork belly is the best I've had. As to the variety of Viking drinks and brews all I can say is wow! I've put together a group of true (blood) Vikings friends and family members for todays Minnesota Vikings game. Were coming back again today to see how deep Viking blood runs thru this new Valhalla. SKOL!

Located close to work. Decided to stop by with a co-worker for lunch based off their lunch menu. Special was 3 tacos and side for $10. Not a bad deal. Place was packed at 11 AM on a Wednesday. Tacos I tried: -salmon -regular taco -pork and pineapple My coworker for the smoked salmon dip for $10. Sliced and toasted baguette with dip scooped on top. Sprinkled with green onions. Overall taste was good. Roughly 5 or 6 pieces. Space is clean and viking themed.

Really loved this place! They have vermouth on tap- only place I've seen in the IS with this- and two more interesting wines on tap as well! They also had some really interesting beers and meads on tap. And that's not even going into the extensive beer and mead offerings in bottles and cans. This place is owned by the same group as El Bait Shop, and you can definitely tell based on the interesting beer selection. They also offer deep American whiskey menu, as well as other liqueurs. The menu is also interesting and different! We tried the Brussels sprouts- glazed in Hoisin and topped with crushed peanuts- and an al pastor taco. The taco menu kind of reminded me of something along the lines of Torchy's Tacos. The tacos are not traditional; in fact, the shell is Norwegian lefse rather than tortillas. But the one I had was really good, plenty of fillings. The interior is fun- lots of flickering wall sconces and Viking style circle shields and antlers on the walls. It's warm and inviting, plenty of seating, and then bar area is nice. There's also a nice, large patio with full service for when the weather's nice. They were playing great tunes while we were there- Greta van Fleet- and there were several TVs all around, if watching the game is your thing. Overall, very excited to work this place into our bar rotation. Almost can't wait for winter so I can come in from the cold to warm up with cold mead and hot tacos. SKOL!
