WOW! What can I say? This place use to Rock on a Friday night. We came in at 7:30pm only had 5 tables. Server took forever, food was mediocre at best, fruit flys all over the place. Just not the Star Bar of 20plus years ago. No wonder we parked right out front at that time of night!
Excellent food and SO reasonably priced! Try the fried goat cheese appetizer. Its very relaxed and service can be slightly slow but if you know that ahead of time it's no big deal.
They used to have bands here but now I think they're embracing the neighborhood bar persona. I really think it's the best non Irish bar pints of Guinness in Des Moines. Food is always good there. seems to be an older crowd there usually. Also i once had a gin martini there that was out of this world!
