I work half a block away from here, I was there with a coworker, he wanted to eat there but I didn’t but still accompanied, they proceeded to tell me if I wasn’t buying anything I had to leave . The specials they have are not really specials if you are not sitting down to eat.

Food was absolutely amazing, and loved the aesthetic! However something has to be done about the older lady waitress. She is by far the biggest down fall to the bar and restaurant. The times i have been in and she is absolutely rude. Same lady that during her shift goes to beaver tap and has shots and then heads back to work. I will never suggest this place again to any close person of mine. Great food though.

Pretty decent. Decor and atmosphere are cool. My food was alright with one exception. I ordered an asiago grilled chicken sandwich, and was surprised when it arrived BURIED in cheese spread. Like, almost as much cheese as there was chicken... way too much. It was also lukewarm especially on the top. I ended up scraping more than half of it to the side cause it was inedible otherwise. It was still too cheesy after so wasn't very satisfying. The zesty waffle fries, however, were awesome and better than the sandwich honestly. I'd give this place another chance and get a different entree - the prices are pretty reasonable. My meal was only $18 with tip.

Great unique Beaverdale restaurant, finally this place stuck and been here for years now. I would deem a classic restaurant for Beaverdale.

Wings were terrible. Service was good. Atmosphere was good. Drink prices were ok I guess. Happy hour was non existant. I'd say skip this one.

A Mixed Review for a Des Moines Mainstay

The Dam Pub is a truly nice little spot in Beaverdale. It's got that classic neighborhood feel, and it's always been a go-to for grabbing a drink and some decent pub food. The staff are always top-notch—friendly, efficient, and genuinely great at what they do.

However, a recent visit took an incredibly bizarre and DANGEROUS turn. While sitting at our table, a large ceiling fan came crashing down, hitting me directly on the head. I'm honestly surprised I didn't get seriously hurt. Thankfully, I was okay, but the situation was shocking.

We had already paid for our food, and the staff did comp my $15 meal. The owner did call me later to apologize and PROMISED to send a gift card as a way to make up for the experience. Which to be fair is a low bar, but at least it was something. It's been about a month, and that gift card has yet to arrive. Lots of talk in hopes not to get sued but then ZERO follow through.

While the staff are fantastic, this experience showed a glaring lack of accountability and follow-through from the management and ownership. It's a real shame because it sours an otherwise great local spot. My advice? Maybe think twice before visiting, or at the very least, bring your own football helmet and watch for falling objects.

EDIT: Since I cannot respond to Dam Pub's response.

I wish YOU would have made things right and done what you said you'd do so I didn't have to post this negative review. Saying you sent the gift card is a joke because it's been a month and nothing. I've given you plenty of time to follow through on the promises, and nothing.

Thank you to all staff for accommodating our large party and making it a special night! My daughter needed seating for 25 for an intimate rehearsal dinner. Every restaurant we called said we either needed to rent a private room or had a minimum spending of $1,500. She grew up with fond memories of frequenting The Dam Pub. She called, they said come on in, we got you. The patio vibes were perfect, the food, drinks, music, and service were amazing. Everyone had a fun relaxing night before the big event. Shout out to our waitress who didn’t miss a beat! 10/10!
