The service was really slow and it took a long time to get drinks and for orders to be taken and it was not busy at the time but the food was amazing

Very Chaotic, busy and maybe understaffed? Sat for 10 min without a server. Flagged one down. Received apps before our drinks. Server was nice but seemed overwhelmed. Food was ok but not a real relaxing atmosphere.

My husband and I walked in at 4:45pm, the place was mostly empty, and were promptly told by the hostess that unless we had a reservation, they were completely booked for the evening. We walked outside, where I proceeded to go online and make a reservation, for immediate seating. So we walked back inside and with the reservation, we were seated. The food was great and the service was good at best. However, I was very confused and didn't feel welcome due to the hostess turning us away. If our options weren't so limited at the time, I wouldn't have gone back in there. It was embarrassing.

We were in town for the weekend from Texas- decided to give TH a try. Not very busy place- we were 1 of 6 tables in there for Sunday brunch. Never been so we weren't sure what to expect, but I can say we were highly let down by the awful service and the food. Our waitress Peach, wasn't very pleasant or welcoming. She wasn't in much of hurry, never brought back a straw when asked for one- finally got up and tracked down our own- it was for a Bloody Mary- finally got our food after what seemed to be quite a while- she finally comes back to check on us about 10 minutes in- and my breakfast mountain bowl was such a sad excuse of a breakfast bowl- it came with 3 little breakfast potatoes, a little bit of bacon and the rest a soupy mess of grits and undercooked fried eggs. I asked for toast to be able to eat the soupy grits with- which honestly given her track record up to this point I knew it was probably a mistake. 15 minutes later she finally comes out with my toast- at this point my food was cold and we were done- i told her I no longer needed it after 15 minutes and she just lets out a little laugh and walks away. The great thing is Des Moines and surrounding areas are getting some great eateries so there are other options with great service . If i lived in Des Moines, I would cross this place off of list to go back to.

The service was very slow. Even though we had a reservation, the hostess was slow. Once we were seated at our table, it took a very long time for our waitress to come over and take our order. It seemed the kitchen was slow as well. The food was delicious!

Didn't catch them on their best day. Appeared to be very short staffed. 55 minutes for food to arrive...Luke warm to cold....

The quality of the food was not good. I had the fried chicken and it was dry and over cooked. We have been there many times. Maybe it was an off night. My wife's chicken tenders were good. The appetizer biscuits were great. Our server was great and personable.

Food was just meh. Our table had friend chicken, shrimp & grits and a chicken sandwich. No one was impressed and we all said - not awful but don't need to come here again. Service was slooow and we had to ask for every drink refill.

Very understaffed, so service was very slow. Collard greens weren't cooked fully and they lacked flavor. Rest of the food was warm not hot and just ok.

We received an email about the Chicken Fried Love promo (buy one chicken entrée and get a second free) on 8/14 and decided to have a date night the next day (Friday 8/15). When I made a reservation, a pop-up alerted me asking if I wanted to select the Chicken Fried Love promo as a part of my reservation, which I did. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were seated right away and then proceeded to wait 15 minutes for our waitress to greet us. At that point, Both my wife and I had already decided what chicken entrées we wanted to eat and place our order immediately. We waited another 10 to 15 minutes for our food to come out where we then confirmed if both of the things we ordered were covered under the promo. The waitress acknowledged that they were and walked to the back. She came out a short while later, letting us know that the one of our entrées we ordered was not covered under the promo and we would have to pay full price. We disputed it, letting her know that the only reason we came was for the promo and we would not have ordered the salad if we knew it was not covered. She proceeded to get her manager who came out promptly with an aggressive attitude asking “so you have a problem with the bill?” we explained the situation and before I could get a full sentence out, the manager cut me off and said that promotion ended last week. He continued to talk over me as I was trying to explain that we received an email one day ago about the promotion. After a bit of back-and-forth, the manager said he would be willing to honor it this time, but moving forward if we ever came back “that's a no go around here.” We then proceeded to wait another 10 minutes before our bill came out and we could pay and leave. This was our first and will be our last dining experience at Tupelo Honey.

After trying them for the first time. I wouldn't order the meatloaf again. It looked like it was cooked in a muffin tin. It was burned black and crunchy on the bottom. It was on the small side. The non-spicy fried chicken was served spicy to my wife. The orders might have been mixed up in the kitchen. We would still try them again because the rest of the food was great.

Excellent, friendly service from the moment I was greeted by Mark at the door. I enjoyed my lunch (to go), so I came back three times during my 5 day stay in Des Moines.

Fresh and tasty food in a chill place. Thanks again!

Sunday early afternoon it wasn’t too busy and were able to get right in for a seat. The server was very friendly and kept a close eye on making sure drinks were full. The food was really quite enjoyable and very reasonable pricing. Will most definitely come back here again!
