Solid but nothing to write home about. FYI, this is just a tiny Mexican grocery that also happens to sell tacos. No tables or chairs. Order ahead, pick them up, and eat somewhere else. Anyway, this place is nothing special. It's solid. But the taco trucks out in Ames have better tacos than this place. I've been all over, California probably has the best taco trucks in the country.

El Paisano may not win any design awards — the place could use some TLC — but don’t let that fool you. I’m from Arizona and a bit of a foodie, and these tacos hit the spot. The steak could’ve used a little more char, but the toppings were fresh and the flavor was authentic.
The real stars? The sauces. The green has that perfect tomatillo tang, and the red packs serious heat with real chili flavor — not that “Midwest spicy” nonsense. 🌶️
If you can overlook the décor, your taste buds will be very happy

They have great food but placing orders on the phone/web is a hassle. They sometimes answer the phone and hang up. They even take it off the hook instead of answering or having a message setup that they’re closed or not taking anymore orders. Other than that best fast food tacos!

Best tacos in town. Great ingredients, and the flavors are spot-on with really good sauces to match. It’s a hidden gem, so make sure to call ahead to place your order - it'll keep your wait time super quick when you arrive. Definitely not a spot to miss!

The food is good but the place is filthy, they can't even clean the front door,I can't imagine how dirty their kitchen must be,that's why I won't be back. The girls that take the orders are not so nice either, always with a serious face and nobody ever answers the phone.

My partner recently visited this store and bought some items that included tortilllas, later on we found out they tortilla packs were expired!, definitely owners need to be careful with the quality of products they are selling to the customers, not a pleasant experience to share.

Always amazing, affordable and authentic as it gets. Today we went for marinated pork, steak, cow tongue, and chicken. The sauces are delicious too! We’re from San Diego and have a hard time eating Mexican in the Midwest… tastes like home
