Hands down the best Happy Joe's we have ever ate at. We used to live in Dubuque and have tried multiple locations in Iowa and Illinois, but keep going back to this one as the best. The crust is fresh, the toppings are loaded on all the way to the edge of the pizza and the pizza is perfectly done. Toppings are all hot with the cheese melted and the bottom crust has just the right amount of crisp! Keep doing what you are doing and maybe some of the other locations could take a few pointers from you guys! Thanks!

Got a take and bake taco from them to take to Michigan! They put all the toppings in separate bags!!! We got it there safe and sound! Baking it was Sooo easy! Even fun popping the crust down!!! It was probably the Best one We’ve ever had! Thanks Happy Joes!!!

Love that they still have the window to watch pizzas being made! It's been over 45 years but I still remember excitedly standing at that window. Awesome Sundae bar as well. Long story short, I was traveling back to SC after a much needed visit home and was experiencing some stressful car problems. That coupled with leaving my elderly parents to head back and the horrible storms I was dealing with had me completely stressed out, and looking like a drown rat! I just need to call out the kindness with which I was treated as I arrived frazzled and soaked to pick up my last taste of home. The manager/owner was so kind and went out of his way to make sure I was ok. I did not get his name, even after having to go back inside to retrieve my keys. I hope he reads this and understands that his kindness made a horrible day survivable. Pizza was phenomenal, even though I also ordered that wrong, lol. I did arrive in SC 5 days late with a 1200.00 auto repair, but never lost the smile that his act of kindness helped me recover. I will be back for the hospitality and the pizza. Thank you, kindness matters.

Dietary restrictions: Canadian bacon at Happy Joes is the best!!!! Awesome gluten free pizza crust, as much as gluten free can be, allows me to enjoy my childhood favorites.

My family and I have been to a couple of Happy Joe’s in Dubuque, but it had been several years since our last visit. While we were driving through the area, we decided to stop for lunch.

Of the locations we’ve been to, this is our favorite. We like the atmosphere and the general look, like a bit of a carnival feel. It’s fun, and frequently during your meal, you’ll hear a honking noise, which we’ve come to learn means someone is celebrating a birthday. And often, the other patrons join in signing a round of “Happy Birthday!”

The pizza is good with plenty of toppings. We ordered the lunch special, which includes a personal pizza and a soft drink, for $8. The great benefit is that you can order the pizza any way you want, so load up!

Service is fairly quick, and the lunch crowd didn’t seem overly packed, so we had plenty of space to sit. The parking lot is large, so you shouldn’t have a problem finding a space.

They ask for cash, but I do believe they accept credit and debit cards. If I heard right, it’s an extra $1 to pay that way.

We’ve also had sandwiches there in the past, and some of those show up as a daily lunch special, which features something different Monday through Friday.

At the front of the restaurant, they also offer some ice cream and candy in case you need to fill in the space around your pizza after dinner.

If you’ve never been to a Happy Joe’s, I’d suggest checking it out. And if you’re in Dubuque, see if you can stop by this location.

Once upon a time used to be best pizza in town then managers took over as owner sold out. Cut inch off pizza added buck to pizza the waitress’s use to bring pizza out and serve first slice they don’t do that anymore. Dubuque locations are more expensive than neighboring cities. And number of better pizza parlors and less expensive to boot…sad place is a staple of my childhood. Pizza hasn’t changed just got smaller and way more expensive
