Jewel in NE Iowa. So happy this spot opened back up. On the menu are hand-made burgers, you can get a one pound burger!!! A half pound cheeseburger is just $8 bucks!!! Food and prices are awesome... They do need a dehumidifier in the restaurant...

Went 7-19-25, around 1 pm. Waitress 5 stars…..
The best waitress , I have any where in a very long time.. I had the ribeye steak sandwich, very good. Was too full to have dessert!! But… boy they had a wonderful verity, to choose from. Next time if not on the bike, I ll take some home. Our 1 st time. Will be watching, for the dill pickle burger, sauce one. It’s a special once in awhile. We will be back.

I think this is the first time I've been to the Roadhouse since the change in management and renaming from the Irish Shanty. I remember when their gunder burger had custom baked buns to fit the massive burger, the onions and mushrooms were nicely caramelized, and the burger itself was moist and juicy and very well seasoned. This burger seemed a bit bland and the normal sized bun was lack luster, and started falling apart, the grilled onions and jalapenos were warm, but not caramelized. It's not that the food was bad per say, and perhaps I am looking through the lens of nostalgia, but I feel like quality is down from the last time I visited.

Great place to eat and excellent service will be coming back Thank you
We came from online reviews. Ordered beer and it was not very cold. Broccoli cheddar bites came promptly and were very hot. We both ordered patty melts. The toppings were slim and burger was dry. The bread was toasted crispy. Overall was ok experience. Wouldn’t go out of our way to return.
Food is delicious.

The Gunder burger is a delicious 1 lb burger that, if you like burgers, you should try. They also have so many topping options as well.

I conquered a Gunder Burger, 1 pound of "wunderful!" The fries were fantastic as well. My wife had the Gunder Haystack which she loved as well. A great roadhouse off the beaten path! We will be back!

Neat place for what feels like the middle of nowhere. Got the Gunder burger, could of been a little bigger for all the hype but it was enough to fill me up.

We had to wait a ridiculous amount of time for our food, the burger was overcooked and our waitress was not attentive at all.
