I tried to call to place a take out order at 7:30 and nobody answered. I tried calling back 5 minutes later and again nobody answered. My fiancé then drove to place a pick up order in person and arrived around 7:40. They told him they close at 8 and didn’t have time to make a take out order but if he would like to dine in he could. Excuse me? The only difference is putting the rolls in a to go box vs a plate!

I can't say enough amazing things about this sushi bar. The fish is very good quality, especially for the Midwest.
Make sure you try the fried rice balls. They are soooo tasty.

I ate at Shokai during a visit to Fairfield. It is delicious. I get sushi but they have other options for non fish eaters. The fish was fresh! I know middle of the country that can be a concern. I had salmon and the color was right, no smell and delicious flavor. Also had spicy tuna. Only 1 ordered a cocktail so it was about $30/pp with 2 appetizers. Highly recommend and will return next time I'm in Fairfield.

What an amazing little place! The sushi was out of this world hands down the best sushi I have ever had and I’ve been to a lot of places all over the U.S! Flavors were on point! I highly recommend the baked salmon roll. It will lot disappoint. Excellent service and super chill atmosphere with great music. You have to check this place out if you’re ever in Fairfield

Was Amazingly good sushi. Now skimpy. But still good... well now more skimpy and expense. Now rarely going.
We tried it at the recommendation of our family we were visiting. Sushi with some different variations. Overall, the food was good. Different taste from the traditional sushi rolls or noodle dishes. We had the Tempura Shrimp and the Shokai Wings. Both were excellent. I had the Matzu Roll. The ribeye added a different flavor profile to a traditional roll. Also had a Shrimp Tempura roll ehjch was very traditional but I thought the rice was a little too thick for the amount of filling. My daughter had the Udon stir fry with tempura chicken which was good. The sauce was a little sweet but the chicken was very tender and juicy. It was very crowded proving how popular it is. Our waitress was accommodating and even moved tables to make sure we could all sit together. Parking was a slight issue as there was no handicap spot near the entrance.
Wheelchair accessibility: There was no handicap parking near the restaurant or even at all that I could see. Once inside, the tables are packed very close together and there is no room for anyone with mobility issues, especially a walker or wheelchair.

More meditation, less anger
