The food is fine. It's exactly what you'd expect from a cafe. I ordered a tortellini soup that had clearly been heated for a long time and the pasta was in pieces. It tasted okay but it wasn't what I expected. I understand that it's a go to place in town but it's underwhelming.

We came in with our family for the first time yesterday as we moved to Indianola only a couple months ago. The hamburger I had was one of the best I’ve had. Originally from the Des Moines area suburbs, the cheap prices were a shocker. I’ve had $10 hamburgers that didn’t taste half as good as the one I paid half that price for here yesterday. And the peach pie was delicious. You have to have it a la mode as the ice cream just brought out the flavor of the peaches that much more. Our kids wanted gum balls and we didn’t have cash on us but the person that served us and rung us up took two quarters out of the drawer and gave them to our kids. She said if the gum-balls fall on the floor they are hers! Needless to say they didn’t fall on the floor. The machine even jammed up the first time when one of our kids put his quarter in and she gave us another quarter. People are not nearly this nice where we come from because everybody is in such a big hurry. It’s great to see this. We will be back for sure. We definitely appreciate service like this.

While we didn't care for our tenderloin sandwiches much, the onion rings were very good. A half order can easily feed 4 people. Next time, we'll order hot beef sandwiches. They looked great.
