Like most places in Iowa this place is hard to get to for people with real jobs but they seem to do very well and they are consistent. I always get what I order and they are open the hours they post. Wish they had a West Des Moines location with working people hours (Most people do not get a hour off for lunch nowadays unless you are a remote worker).

Sub par sandwiches. Inconsistent quality. They are always running out of breads (croissants). Service/staff are unprofessional and forgetful. The environment is cold, and sterile. Just painting and better blinds would help. And please, step into the 21st century and get new overhead lighting. When I go in, which is rare now, I am delighted when we leave. Try some booths as well. I would love to support local businesses, but only those that make an effort to get my business. The sandwiches…boring deli meat, slapped on day old bread is something dissatisfying. I’m sure all of those on the square , eat for lunch because it’s close! Their cookies are good, but that about it. The side options are from 1950. A cup of fruit? Pasta salad? They only reason they are open is from the business owners on the square. Even a chain like Panera has amazing soups and sandwiches. Being a family business get together and create a new menu! Please! When I have friends come from Des Moines, I wouldn’t dare take them to Funaro’s. Most of the town wants to see you succeed, but do you care enough to please the people. (You haven’t mine)

Nice quiet place, early in the day for a breakfast sandwich and a hot chocolate.

This place has been a lovely staple to this town for as long as I can remember. They have great bread bowls, sandwiches, and cookies! Also add that small town charm.

This is one of the best kept secrets of Warren County! If you've never been to Funaro's you're missing out. The friendly staff will treat you like family! The meatballs, the cookies! This is my favorite place for lunch! Best meatball sandwich in all of Iowa!

My most recent sandwich was good, but the in-person ordering experience didn't quite seem to match options available online.

There cookies are a hidden gem. I don't have a favorite because they were all great

I was in town for work and locals recommended this for lunch - SO GOOD. I personally loved the Reuben but the sandwich special was also yummy. Tons of sandwiches (warm and cold) to choose from in addition to salad and cookies.
