Very delicious food. I enjoy my lunch meals at Bo-James. Good atmosphere everything is lovely.
Food was average and there are flies EVERYWHERE. Try Short’s burgers instead, or Freddy’s right across the street!
We made a quick trip to Iowa City on March 20, 2015. Bo James was a favorite when we were in school and the food was excellent. It was spring break at UI so it was not busy (one other customer in the whole place). Our server was great and the food came out piping hot. We had burger baskets and the grilled cheese with fried egg. Delicious!
Incredible food and fully recommend the burger baskets
december 11th a mighty fine evening to be at bojames, fantastic service, delicious food, bartender hit on me and she is beyond gorgeous my expectations were beyond exceeded can’t wait to return!!!
If you wanna a nice evening with excellent bar food and really good music, try coming for dinner on a Sunday evening

Was pretty annoyed by the experience. My shoes were sticking to the floor, there was gum all over the bottom of the table, and the table we were sat at was incredibly unsteady, wobbled at the slightest movement. I’m not typically thrown off by the environment, as long as the experience was positive, but it wasn’t. I ordered the Hot Strips, which seemed to be frozen chicken reheated and tossed into franks buffalo sauce. My friends got an order of cheese fries, but the fries were incredibly bland and there was very little cheese. To top all of this off, the staff seemed incredibly unprofessional. The staff was all gathered in one place by the bar, making tik toks, and being rather loud. The waitress was also pretty unprofessional, which is fine, I didn’t expect a fine dining experience, but it just felt like she didn’t want us to be there. Overall, just an odd experience and one that felt silly to have to pay to experience.

Thought it may be a nice spot to stop for dinner… couldn’t find the hostess, somebody else said they would seat us outside at one of the many open tables. Hostess who was slightly older suddenly comes out and says “no seating”, sir we are full. I state that the other person was just going to seat us…at one of these 8-10 open tables outside.
She says it doesn’t matter what they were going to do, we are full, I asked about the open tables and she said, sir have a nice day. Nice day and very few people inside and only about 10-12 people sitting outside.
Wow, just wow. Not sure if she was having a bad day, but there are Lots of options in Iowa City. I won’t pick this one again.

If you want to wait 1 hour for 1 snack platter, this is the place to go!!! We went during a time where seats were empty and still did not receive our food (the easiest food on the menu to make) until 58 minutes after the order. Not like we were hungry or anything

Dan was awesome, I came in from out of town and he made me feel like family. I went to multiple places before o came here and this was by far the most fun I have had in a long time. Thanks Dan for making our night epic!
Atmosphere was great and workers were very friendly and accommodating. I got the Bo James Platter and the Vegetarian Burger with the house salad. The appetizer platter was 50/50. Items like the fried green beans and pickles were amazing while the nachos and potato skins were very dry. The burger was very dry and I could not finish it. The food is a hit or miss but the environment and vibes make up for the misses. Overall enjoyed the time spent here and will be coming back when it's warmer to sit outdoors.

Not much going on yet, just stopped for a couple beers. Pretty good selection on tap.

Food was average. The macho nacho was a large stuck together clump of garbage. Why they put so much Lettuce on it is beyond me. It's Nachos, not a taco salad! Our table lamp above us didn't have a bulb. It was hard to see the menu without our phone flashlights. Upon request they did switch our table.
