I got the drip coffee medium roast, the Israeli breakfast, and a chocolate pastry. It was good, especially the coffee and crossiant. The barista I spoke to definitely was very knowledgeable and friendly. It was expensive but they arnt doing things like the other coffee shops I've been to in the area, so the price seems fair. I wouldn't get the breakfast again but I would come back based on how good the coffee and pastry was.Kid-friendliness: There were several families with younger children in Cortado when I was there

The barista working at 9am on Wednesday today made me the BEST oatmeal cookie latte I have ever gotten from Cortado. It was absolutely amazing!

This place has the most delicious matcha lattes! My girlfriend got the maple tahini latte & it was very tasty & perfectly sweetened. We also split the Vietnamese sandwich on ciabatta, it was full of flavor, & the grilled chicken was deliciously juicy!

Inordinately expensive and relatively bad service for the price, e.g., the wi fi is terrible and power outlets do not work. Mainly capitalizes on excellent location.

When I found out that Iowa City was getting a Mediterranean cafe, I was over the moon! The food scene is great, but I think we all benefit from more options. My job has me travel far and often, so it was a long time until I got to try Cortado.Needless to say, I was pretty underwhelmed by the experience. The pros: The coffee isn’t bad. The food is edible and provides some nutritional value. The cons: The hummus is flavorless and overpriced. Many of the menu items can be found elsewhere in IC at a better value (Oasis, Nodo, Mammitas, Crêpes de Luxe, etc.)When I went to get breakfast, I ordered a side of potato wedges and confirmed with the barista that I ordered that specific side. When our food didn’t include the potato wedges, I said “oh hey I also ordered the potatoes” to the man bringing out the food (who I believe was the owner). He looked at me like I spat in his face!Instead of checking the ticket and saying “we didn’t get that in the kitchen but we can add those to your order if you’d like” or something similar, he argued with the barista, glared at me, and went off to the kitchen. When they brought out the potatoes (cold and chewy), he spent the whole time arguing with me about how I was in the wrong!I can totally understand someone forgetting to add an item and food not getting to a table. It happens all the time and it’s not the end of the world, but I was in no mood to argue about a stupid plate of potatoes. The best part? He pulled out the card reader and demanded I pay for the $5 potatoes that I ordered!I even checked my card statement and turns out, I paid TWICE for the most mediocre potatoes I’ve ever had the displeasure of sending through my digestive tract!Lesson of the story: Stay for the “ehh” coffee, walk down the street and flip a coin for better food

Came here because I needed a nearby study place on a rainy day, and I’m happy to find out that the cortado is indeed delicious

We stopped in for a coffee. My husband had a double espresso, which he loved. I had a specialty latte which tasted only of sugar. On a whim we got an almond croissant which was tasty but lacked the flakiness of a croissant. While we were there they were making fresh pitas that they were then bagging up. I'd be intrigued to try out lunch there.

Great, atmosphere and location, and the service was very good. They have a good selection of both vegan and non-vegan options. I got the Israeli breakfast, and it was OK. The sausage was very good, but the dressing for the green salad was lacking flavor. But everything else on my plate was good.
