We loved staying at the Graduate, but the Food Hall bar/restaurant is nothing to brag about. Service is very good though with very friendly servers and bartender. What's with the name? Food Hall? really? Come on be more imaginative! the menu is small, limited options. I had the Boursin Burger, good but too much meat, couldn't eat it all. My wife had the Crispy Chicken Sandwich which she said the center of the chicken looked bad, grayish looking. Drinks are good though. Frequented by a lot of college students when we were there. It does have a nice vibe.
We had great service and great food. I ate there with my brother and husband and we all enjoyed our food. Noah was our bartender and server. He was excellent! Highly recommend!
Hit or miss. You can have a great bartender one night. The next you’ll have a bartender that won’t acknowledge you are there even though you are the only person at the bar. I never got a chance to try the food for that fact.
A ghost kitchen that gives you the best of many worlds. It’s definitely a great play to grab a drink and enjoy the lodge vibes.
Ordered online. The food was cold by the time it was delivered and I was missing half of my order, which was about $20 worth of food. I called and spoke to a manager and was told they would NOT give me my missing food NOR would they offer me a refund for the missing items. So incredibly disappointed.
Excellent classic cocktails, in a quaint setting.,The wood paneling and macrome lamp shades add a period decor that is cozy and welcoming. This is a \\\"grown up\\\" bar in a downtown full of loud crowded \\\"meat market\\\" type bars. I also had the sweet and spicy wings, which were great. I would definatley go back to try more menu items.
I've been here a few times and the service has gone from bad to worse. I will be taking my business elsewhere from now on.I shouldn't have to hear a bartender and server argue over is going to serve us, a two-top, two hours before close. Despite repeatedly ordering waters everytime someone came to ask if we'd been helped, they couldn't seem to manage to get any to our table. If the drinks were spectacular I could overlook the sloppy service, but they've always just been ok.
The service we atrocious. I have possibly never felt so unwelcome and disrespected as I did when I was here. It was clear that the color of my skin was a issue for a particular employee.
Get the nacho plate but be warmed if there is under 3 people sharing it will be a meal for 2! Outstanding service and staff!
I met a good friend for drinks before they had to go to work. We both enjoyed fantastic preparations of a traditional Negroni, it was a little sweet, quite bitter, a smidge spicy and rightly strong. In summary, the perfect drink for the occasion, done excellently. Our bartender Adelaide (I hope I spelled it right) was fantastic. Highly recommended

Enjoyed the slushees, appetizers and drinks at Genes. We sat at the bar and Alicia served us and she was wonderful. We were watching the football game and everything was great
Good drinks and friendly bartenders! The place is named for Gene Wilder who graduated from the nearby Iowa University so many of the menu items are themed from his movies.
Although the outdoor space is nice and the frozen drinks are fun, the service here was terrible. The first time I came during a very busy function downtown, so I thought the rude, neglectful bartenders were overstressed. Decided to come back tonight. They were not busy at all, but the service was awful again. The bartenders were inattentive and unfriendly.
Food was ok but service was absolutely horrible. Waited 30 min on a night were the place was 3/4 empty and was then told I was past last call. There are better places.
Brunch was great, and the indoor outdoor atmosphere is the best in Iowa City. It's also great if you have kids who want to play on the nearby playground. Will defintely be going back!
