Since opening, Harry's has become a go-to brunch spot and anytime meal spot for myself and my friends. Their menu is extensive and breakfast is served all day -- always worth trying the Huevos Epsteinos, which is my personal favorite. Their staff has always been pleasant and attentive, even on busy days, and you can tell they struggle with retaining staff, which is not uncommon in a college town. Still something I hope they can resolve, since it can impact the experience. And don't leave without trying dessert -- their options might be few, at times, but they are DELICIOUS and worth taking home to snack on later. I almost never leave a meal at Harry's without getting dessert after a life-changing chocolate cake from my first visit. I look forward to seeing Harry's achieve recognition as a go-to brunch spot -- it is absolutely deserved!

I love a good diner and this place is very cute. Tried the chicken and waffles. Very enjoyable and I definitely plan to go back because it was hard to decide between what I got and the cheesesteak offering they have on their menu.

Excellent food and service! Great atmosphere. We were trying to eat down the street but there was an hour wait and discovered Harry's where we got right in. We're glad that we did because Harry's is excellent!
We had the Harry's big breakfast prepared different ways.

Awful experience. Beyond slow service. I ordered 2 pancakes and French toast to go the pancakes came out and for some reason we had to wait around 30 minutes to get the to go French toast. Update we never got the French toast!

This is currently the best place in IC for breakfast food. I know that’s saying a lot, but if you think you have a favorite breakfast place, try this place out.

Aside from the incredible food, the coffee is great, and the beer is cold, so you’re covered no matter what kind of morning you’re having.

At least in the AM it definitely seems more diner than bar, so it’s family friendly too.

I just had the biscuits and gravy here. Zero sausage in the gravy. You could tell the gravy was sitting a while because the grease had started to separate. I ordered eggs over medium and they were hard as a rock. Coffee was lukewarm. Will not be back.

Extensive menu, something for everyone - they make their bread in-house! Hip diner decor.

Where to start? Lets start with positive. Got seated right away at (10:30am) Annnd thats it. Seated for 25 minites before wait staff approached and asked, "Have you been helped yet?" We said no, she said "ok ill be right back" 10 minutes later she came back we placed drink and food order at the same time because we realized they are running behind. Waited 35 mins, no drinks, no food. So in summary over an hr of sitting, waiting no food or drink. We left. Go elsewhere.

This is in response to the owners. Reply to my review of the restaurant. This all boils down to poor management. If you are the actual owner, then you should know on a Labor Day weekend. Make sure you have enough staff. You had 3 servers running around like chickens with their heads cut off and one cook in the kitchen. So apparently there's a mismanagement of staff. Either way, a very EASY resolution to this problem is when costomers arrive, let them know. "There's going to be a 45 minute to an hour wait", this would minimize or even resolve waiting issues.

I've tried three times, but they just can't get it together. This last time, we waited about 35 minutes for two sandwiches while the restaurant had 5 tables in it. The sever didn't come over to fill waters, drop off silverware, or even acknowledge the long wait in the mean time. When the food came out, both easy modifications my partner and I had made were completely ignored. The server then rushed over after talking to her coworkers (which they were doing the whole time) and gave us the bill.

Update: Glad to know the owner’s priorities are giving snide excuses to criticism on Google rather than train their cooks to work on more than one ticket at once and teach servers how to look after their tables rather than sit in their phones while tables need pre-sets. Openly admitting your cooks cannot multitask and operate efficiently while the restaurant is 10% full is pathetic. I’ve worked with bad kitchens before, but it never has gotten so bad that 5 tickets brought service to a screeching halt and had tables walk out.

Our first experience at Harry's was great. Our second was very little to be desired. We were on a time crunch but thought 1 hour was more than enough time to get food, pay, and leave. Our wait staff took our drink order and then quickly came back to get our food order. Everything was great at this point. We put in our food order and then our wait staff literally disappeared. 35 minutes went by and we still hadn't seen our wait staff come back to our table. At this point we had been at Harry's for 45 minutes and had only been helped by our wait staff once. Two members of our party went up to the counter to try paying for the drinks we'd ordered so we could leave (as we were approaching our time frame). Come to find out they were still making our food, 35 minutes later? They offered us to wait 10 minutes and take our food to go but we did not have the ability to transport food with us. After 10 minutes of deliberating about what was owed w/ the wait staff, manager and owner (we only wanted to pay for what we had consumed at that point) our food still wasn't made. The argument is we owed the full amount simply b/c we had ordered but never received food. In the end we paid for the entire meal w/o even seeing our entrees but I would never return. Putting food on the burner last minute to force your customer to pay b/c you simply hadn't made or had forgotten their order is terrible customer service. Anyone else would've just walked out since the wait staff had never come back to our table anyway. Easily the worst service in Iowa City, granted, maybe it's just this particular member of the wait staff. Don't recommend if you're in a time crunch, they will not be forthcoming about how long food takes to come out of the kitchen. Had we known we'd be there for an hour before our food ever came out, we wouldn't have ordered anything.
