I hadn’t been to KFC since I was a senior in high school. After about 30 years, I decided to give it another try this past Saturday. Most of the experience was fine, but I was shocked to find a dead mosquito in my mashed potatoes, which made me feel sick. It was so disgusting and MIXED into the potatoes. My kids ate the food too, which makes the situation even more concerning. The rest of the food was just okay and definitely not worth the price. KFC needs to take food safety and quality control much more seriously if they want customers to return.

On 9/21/25 we went through the drive through ~7:00pm and ordered two famous bowls and two biscuits. After eating some I noticed a speck of black on one of the pieces of chicken, it was a fly. We called the store and they were not helpful, they said we could come back and get a new bowl; believe it or not, I was not interested in eating anymore of their food. They finally said if we brought the bowl and the bug back in that they would refund only that bowl, clearly it was not worth it since it was our whole meal that had been ruined. Really gross and disappointing.

I might be weird but I have this fixation on KFC nuggets and since we don’t have one in our town every time I see a KFC I have to stop. This morning was a disappointment. I showed up at 10:50 and had to wait for them to open but to get fresh stuff is worth the wait, I thought. The nuggets were warm but greasy The potatoes were not even hot, how can this happen when it’s the start of the day? The biscuit was hot but as soon as I put it up to my mouth I had biscuit crumbling everywhere, what a mess! I questioned how old it was. They need to take lessons from Mt Pleasant KFC cause that was my most recent visit prior to this and they did it all right. One other thing that made me go rrrrrrrr Is they usually put a cherry tart with this special and today I got nothing. Not happy with Iowa City KFC right now but will probably give them a second chance

Sometimes errors happen. I ordered an eight piece bucket and got a twelve piece instead. They misread the order. The manager offered to refund my credit card the difference. I said it was okay we'd eat it as left overs. He asked how many people and gave us four free desserts for the error. They were very nice recommend you stop by if your hungry this ace is a step a obove.

I used the handy kiosk to order. At the end, it instructed me to put in my name, which would be called when my order was ready. But the counter person called out a number instead. Which wouldn't have been a problem, but a guy who was also waiting actually opened the box to see if it was his. He didn't manhandle the food or anything, and I'm not too germ-phobic, so it was fine. However, if you ask for my name, that's what I'm listening for. 😜 The original recipe thigh and drumstick did not disappoint.👍🏽
