Le Gourmet Korean Restaurant

I wouldn't have expected to find such a cozy Korean restaurant in a mall, but this one is a great place.

The owners (husband and wife) are so kind and friendly. They remember my wife's and my name, and get us every visit.

Now, the food: excellent, with good pairing with their sides. We always try to get something new each time, and have yet to be disappointed.

Oh my goodness, good food just makes my heart happy. I got the Jjamppong and two tuna Gimbaps to go, my friend got the Ttukbaegi-Bulgogi.

SUCH good food and great service, the owners were amazing to us and I would go there ten thousand times more if I could.

It was very clear they were getting a crazy amount of orders in and the wait was fairly long to get the food to-go. Looks like ordering ahead online is the best way to go as 4-6 orders came in the few minutes it took to take my order. That said, the kimchi fried rice was fantastic and was worth the wait. The staff is incredibly polite and had been working incredibly hard to get food out quickly.

I miss Seoul Grill, but Le Gourmet has more than filled the void they left.

The lady and gentleman that I interacted with were super nice and attentive, and knew their regulars by name.

This is the best Korean food I've had! I went in, and they were extremely nice in serving me and checking in on me. Huge serving size for a great price. I had the Jjamppong and it was amazing!

Hands down our favorite spot in Iowa City. My wife and I love this restaurant. The couple who own and work it are very welcoming and friendly. The food is incredible (and well priced for the quality) and the actual space is pleasant to be in.

My wife and I do a lot of Korean cooking at home. We rarely find Korean restaurants either in Iowa or Illinois that cook as well as we are able. Le Gourmet, though, knocks our socks off. The food is just so much better than anything we've ever made.

Everyone should try Le Gourmet.

Hands down my favorite place in Iowa City. Owned by a super cute Korean couple that work hard to prepare homemade Korean food. If this place ever closes I’m never returning to this city.

Wheelchair accessibility: I have seen people eat in wheelchairs multiple times but am not a wheelchair user myself. Seems like they’re pretty accessible though.

First time customer, as we walk in to dine the couple greeted us nicely with a smile, especially the wife. As we walk to the dining she told us to sit close to the glass wall, we asked her to switch tables so our kid won’t play with the nice curtain they have, she said it was okay. As we are trying to figure out our order since it was our first time seeing their menu we took our time , it wasn’t busy at that time since it was already past 2pm. Our 4 year old kid keep on switching chairs going to her dad’s chair then wants her mommy, well she’s a kid, our kid wanted attention but our kid never hurt or destroy any of the restaurant stuff. As my husband trying to order it online since the lady said we can order online , I was busy trying to get my kid to sit still and my kid was facing the counter where the lady owner was standing and waiting, I heard her yell at my kid “STOP” like she’s mad!!! , first of all my kid is a kid, my kid didn’t do anything wrong to you so don’t treat your customer like that!!! And it’s not your job to tell our kid to stop since she didn’t do anything wrong to you! If you can’t deal with things like that then you need to put that on your policy that no kids allowed!!! You need be respectful without us as your customer you guys don’t have business!!!!! You hurt my feelings how you treated my kid!!! After the lady yell at my kid to stop, she didn’t know I heard her, she waited like 3-5minutes then she went to our table right away and told us to order at the counter since sometimes card is not working, why she didn’t say that in the beginning. Then I took my kid out to go for a walk at the mall while we were waiting for the food to be serve. When the food came she was smiling like she didn’t treated my kid bad , I’m Asian too and my attitude is way far better than you. We will not be returning and I will never recommend this restaurant. First of all it’s over price and you don’t get much of the food portion especially the bulgogi on hot stone bowl it’s like a 1 tbsp serving of meat only…and If I was just rude with what you did to my kid , we would of left the restaurant but since we’re already sitting I decided to stay. Poor service , LACK OF RESPECT TO CUSTOMER!!!! By the way my kid still remember what you did to her.

I first came here when I was a freshman in college (2022). I had tried their kimchi fried rice, it was the best thing I've ever had. However I got scared that it was a one time thing, as many of you may know how the food industry sometimes does not make their food good consistently(?). However when I became back for my second, my third, my fourth.... probably my hundredth time, it still tasted the same, always with the same good customer service as well. I applaud the chef who makes his food with love and care and I applaud the lady always greeting me with a smile on my face! YOU SHOULD TOTALLY TRY THIS PLACE OUT, ESPECIALLY THE KIMCHI FRIED RICE.

Vegetarian options: I'm not sure! Make sure to tell the lady about it!
