I spent 2 weeks in Iowa City and 5 of those nights at Micky's. It was the first couple weeks back to school so it was packed the first night, but the others were pretty mellow. The bartenders were all awesome. I hope they see this. I made a new friend from Brazil and almost won at bingo. Such a fun bar and very welcoming. The food was delicious and the beers were cold!

Food was middling. I think it could have been great if it had still been hot.
I was especially impressed with how many Scotch Eggs came in an order, but again they were just lukewarm. (Not pictured but there were 6 pieces/3 full eggs.)
Pretzel bites made an attempt to be salted, but missed the mark.
Clam Chowder Soup and Irish Stew were pretty good. I’d try both again.
Honestly the biggest things working against this place, and yes I’ll sound like a whiny old person here, was it was too loud and too cold. I had to shout to talk to my husband and the fans were running so hard in there that it was blowing napkins and papers off our table.
If the volume and ceiling fans could have been knocked back like 20% and food temperature upped accordingly, I could have reviewed it higher.

Food is just eh. But the nice part is 68 cent wings on Wednesday. Wings are fried, prefer grilled but still decent. Sauces are meh. Drinks are good. Burger was ok. Overall, relatively affordable prices which is pretty good.

Great food with an Irish flair. Looks like an Irish pub inside. Not a huge place. We ate on the patio. Good selection of beers. Wife had a great old fashioned with Irish whiskey.
So I was not personally there, I had food brought home for me so I cant comment on service or atmosphere. The sandwich that was brought for me was a Reuben. Nothing difficult. Saurkraut, corned beef, thousand island and Swiss/provolone. What I received was a sandwich built with 5oz of saurkraut, 2 oz of meat, no cheese, and thousand on the side. I don't know if thats how things normally get done but that was terrible. If you're going to market as an irish pub a reuben is a staple and should be done better than what I received. The corned beef was delicious, even though I had to separate it from the obnoxious amount of kraut that took up the rest of the sandwich. I should have took pictures and feel bad that I didn't. Honestly, if thats what comes from the kitchen I don't believe a trip there personally is worth it. Believe me, I feel bad for leaving this and I don't do it lightly. I hope this is a learning experience in quality control though because what I received was remarkably terrible.

Staple IC restaurant that continues to deliver consistently over the years. Service on patio was terrific.
Monday burger basket deal is a great value -add cheese and bacon though and your cost is back to the daily. Additional charges for condiments (mayo, ranch) were a bit disappointing, but not all that unusual these days.
I still love the nostalgia of returning, menu variety and great service.

I do like this place but on separate occasions I and multiple people I know have gotten severe food poisoning, this has happened over a period of almost 8 months. I like the place but it is not worth the risk until they fix the sanitary issues.
