I hardly ever go to subway, but I received some coupons in the mail and thought I’d put them to good use. I was pretty excited when I saw a coupon for 2 footlongs for $12.99. I drove to subway and ordered my sandwiches but when it came time to check out I was told that this location doesn’t except subway coupons. What? I’ve never once gone to a chain fast food restaurant and had vendor coupons denied and how subway even allows one of their chains to do this is beyond me. The total ended up being $26.99 for two sandwiches which is insane. Whoever owns this subway location can shove those two footlongs up there you know what’s because no way am I paying that much for two sub par sandwiches.

So I ordered a sub from this location and to be honest I am appalled. I ordered such a simple sandwich and it was completely messed up! I got a Black Forest ham with provolone mayo and lettuce. They skimped out on the meat and gave me two half pieces of cheese on a footlong sub like come on. And I got there and it was cold. It's a 2-minute drive to my house and the sub was ice cold. I don't know if they didn't toast it long enough or what but this was completely unacceptable. If I could give zero Stars I would I don't recommend going here to this location. This might be my worst review I have left for a company by far.

I was quite surprised to see that they now prepare the "meat" part of your sub out of view of the customer. That being said, the two guys working were doing a great job trying to keep up. There were easily a dozen people in there,which is busier than I've seen it since before the pandemic. The veggies looked nice and fresh, and I think the amount of meat on my(formerly spicy italian) footlong approached the double meat we ordered. But what surprised me most of all was the $6 footlong we used to buy 2 for about $12 plus tax now, (including 15% tip) came to $28.99! And as an FYI we, we got coupons from Subway in the mail, which is why we went in, and were told, "corporate sends those out, and we don't accept them". Is that legal.. or ethical? Maybe the sign on the store should be changed to...?
Parking: It sits on Avery busy corner where it's somewhat difficult to get in and out,as the lot is very small and a car cannot get in if another is leaving.

Unfortunately I can't give a review about the food because I chose not to order any & walked directly back out of the restaurant after finding this franchise location no longer accept coupons. For a fast food type chain restaurant, the cost (without coupons) is more than I'm willing to pay. It cost $50 for my family of 4 to eat there last time without coupons. I have so many other & better options for that amount.I went to Firehouse Subs instead & got almost the same coupon price with their daily deal since I follow them online, AND it's better quality anyway. Sorry franchise Iowa City Subway, but your "pass on the cost to the consumer while you rake in profits" business strategy just doesn't work for me.
