There R-30 tonkatsu is excellent, and just better, compared to pork cutlets I've had in any other Japanese/Asian restaurant. I personally thought the Katsu curry (which comes with a goated pork cutlet, imo) was extremely good as well, however, I've never had curry anywhere else so I'm not sure how it compares exactly. All I know is that I was hungry and their Katsu Curry really hit the spot.

Tasty ramen place in a food court. Service was a bit slow, so you might be pressed for time eating here.

I walked around this entire area and this spot really stood out from the rest. I'm not from around here so just going to a normal restaurant chain doesn't really appeal to me when visiting somewhere new. When half of the people around Hoja aren't speaking English, and the menu is in two different languages...you know you stumbled upon a gem. The beef was so tender and had excellent seasonings. Little bit of spice with the jalapenos and the nice accent with the kimchi. Everything about this dish was perfect and I would easily go there again.

This is the best ramen restaurant in Iowa City. The soup bases have a wonderful depth in flavor. The variety of vegetables in the ramen is great. The service is great and the environment of sitting in the mall is very pleasant. Highly recommend trying Hoja, they do not disappoint.
