It is overhyped. I had went in today and ordered a kuro organic milk tea which I had purchased with extra USA boba topping as it was not clear that it had already came with. Drinks and food are overpriced for the quality of the items. The space and atmosphere was alright as it was pretty on the inside but the seating felt very cheap and were dirty when we sat down. The menu is misleading and almost forces you to add toppings which makes ONE singular drink come out to $7... like that much for mid boba ?... This wasn't my first time visiting this place but every time I have visited, there is barely any staff. I understand that it is spring break and most of the employees might be students and are gone but I had visited during the school time and it still seemed understaffed. It is unacceptable to have that low of staff especially since I came around peak hours. I had also checked the reviews of this place and the owner seems to come up with the excuse that some staff was sick but even then, you as a business should be able to hire enough staff where sick staff shouldn't be that detrimental to the business. Other customers and I always felt a racist vibe as we saw that all but 2 people were Asian?... It just seems like it lacks diversity in the staff and treat customers differently based on their race/ethnicity. I had previously liked this place and wanted to keep visiting but after todays experience, I will most definitely not be visiting anymore. take your money to teamo if you want good service and boba. it will never compete to teamo to be honest. Even La tea can do better that this place.

Best boba tea place in Iowa city in my humble opinion. They have unique drinks like the happy camper or the biscoff signature that taste sooooo good! The food is nice too! Besides sweets they have savory options like the popcorn chicken. They don't take cash which can be a bit inconvenient, but everything else here is perfect!

The staff here are very kind, The Bep is near my house and I come here often. Last week I came here for a drink and forgot my things here. After I came back, they took good care of my things, and return it to me, everything is still the same. They are very kind and friendly!!

I recently went to this boba store last month, and I was expecting a lot. The aesthetics were really nice, but you have to order on a kiosk that's very confusing. Some of the drinks come with toppings that you can't easily see, and they ask for your email AND phone number. You can't even leave a $0 tip unless you choose to make a custom tip! That's not all. I ordered 1 drink, and it took almost 45 minutes to come out. There were only 2 people working. They also have games in there, like foosball and air hockey, to help keep you amused during the long wait, but they're all broken. I think that the system needs to be streamlined a lot, and that the manager needs to hire more help. 2 PEOPLE IS NOT ENOUGH FOR A SATURDAY!! Overall, I'm extremely disappointed with how the place is being managed, and it needs to turnaround fast if it wants to compete with Teamo.Edit: Even with 4 employees, the wait is still abysmal. Save your money, go to Teamo.

I've visited many times since they've first opened and I've observed a lot and tried many items on their menu! The workers are truly so nice and helpful, and the drinks they make are beautiful and delicious! But I do see them get overwhelmed when there's a rush -- whoever manages this location needs to hire more people. I can see all the workers doing their best to make drinks and also keep up with running things behind the counter, but there just simply isn't enough people. They all look like students, so I can't imagine it's possible to be fully staffed when there's less than 10 students with their already-busy schedules in the whole rotation. Also, the kiosks are very misleading. They are convenient, but you don't know which drinks already come with toppings, so you might end up paying extra for a topping that you would've gotten anyway!! The kiosk system needs to be more streamlined and customer-friendly. I'd like to see them include more dairy-free options too, as well as what drinks have caffeine in them. The menu is just a little confusing. The music is OK, they don't always play the clean versions and some song choices don't fit with the vibe of the place overall... it's very jarring at times. Sounds like they just looked up a pop playlist on Spotify and hit shuffle, but maybe a more curated set playlist would be nice. They are new to the area so I hope they can take what their clients say into consideration and improve conditions for their staff and customers!EDIT: I think the owner hid my review... this is rather disappointing considering any reasonable manager would take serious consideration to improve the above. Hope this store will prove me wrong.

Save your money, save your anger, and go to teamo. You walk in to order and the only option to order is an automated kiosk, you can't simply go up to the guy and tell him what you want. You then have to attempt to navigate an incredibly complicated menu in which you are almost 100% guaranteed to order the wrong thing (who thought it was a good idea to not put a warning on the nasty egg pudding). It then shows you to another checkout screen where they require you to enter both your full name and your phone number, but also show you that annoying tip screen in which you have to select a custom tip in order to not tip them. And at the end of all this you get your nasty bubble tea for a whoping seven dollars. Overpriced, nasty, confusing and horrible, go to teamo if you want the real deal.

Love this place! I am a repeat customer. The mangonada and taro ube brulee are must-try items.Today i tried the new biscoff milk tea though and i was somewhat disappointed because to me it did not have much of the biscoff flavor and just tasted like milk. The drink looks very pretty but i feel like the biscoff flavoring is just around the outside of the cup and it is quite hard to taste it unless you scrape the sides of the cup w the straw. This drink has so much potential though, just wish it was more flavorful.
