Excellent place. You can share a meal with five courses. Also you watch staff preparing the food. Prices are fair

Waitress and wine were good but chose the 35oz dry aged steak coming in at over $300.If you’re paying a premium for an aged steak, you expect it to be cooked correctly—at the very least. Mine came out cooked well past the medium-rare I asked for. But the real kicker? They threw away our leftovers after we both said yes we will take a small box. No explanation other than the manager telling us we told him we didnt want it(which is not what we both said), just a $30 discount for tossing about 1/4 of a expensive steak. For a place charging top-shelf prices, the kitchen was careless and the staff cavalier. There’s no excuse for that level of waste or indifference. Save your money—and your appetite—for somewhere that actually respects both.

2nd best restaurant in Iowa City, I've come here twice in the last 2 years.

Food is incredible, I'm disappointed they removed the brussel sprouts, which were to die for.

The chefs clearly LOVE food and creating great culinary experiences

The service has definitely deteriorated a little, the waiter was pretty nonchalant and unhelpful. But the food makes up for it

Visiting from TX. Our reservation was at 8, we had a table at 9! The manager didn’t want to clear a table for us and rush the customers, so WHY do the have a reservation system if they will lot honor it? Also bad is that the waitress kept rushing us to finish (they didn’t rush the other tables) because they wanted to close. At some point I had to tell the waitress to stop taking away our plates without asking if we were finished. My suggestion is: do NOT expect that they will respect and honor your reservation, get yourself another restaurant that is respectful to their customers time and a business where they do not rush customers because of their lack of planning. Food was ok but not out of this world. Would I go there again? Never! Not even with or without a reservation….

Absolutely top notch. This place delivers incredible value. This meal would cost twice as much—and be worth it—in any great food town. Backed by people who care and pay attention to details and ingredients. I can’t wait to come back. For this price I don’t know how anyone could eat anywhere else in town.

I really appreciated and enjoyed our servers both times we visited. Even though he was visibly busy, the bar tender was incredibly intentional by coming over and sharing more about the amaro amore, his signature digestif dessert cocktail that my husband loved.

I accidentally made our anniversary reservation for the wrong evening so even though we weren’t on their reservation list that evening, they had a seat for us right away and made it seem like it was the system’s fault and not mine. Very classy!

My husband and I visit Iowa City every summer to see family and this has become our go-to spot for a special evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

Something to note: their portions are very large. We wanted the full experience so ordered one dish from each course but it was too much food. I would encourage you to come with another couple, family, or a group of 3. I would skip the main dish and get one more pasta or several appetizers instead. Their pork chop and wagyu steak were delicious (we had on separate occasions) but I would rather try more of their sides and appetizers for the value.

The servers have always recommended great wine pairings and are not pretentious about explaining their menu.

We look forward to returning here and hope to try their Chef’s Counter experience and visit their sister restaurant, Paper Crane, next time!

We had a great dinner at The Webster and especially loved the cast iron cornbread, the hiramasa crudo, and the orecchiette! The sakura pork chop and fioretto were also very good. Special shoutout to the amaro cocktail; it was bold and thoughtful, and made even better by the head mixologist stopping by our table to introduce it. That kind of attention really elevated the experience.

The only downside was the portion sizes. They were too large for a date night with just two people. It felt like we had to over-order and take too much home. A little more à la carte flexibility or smaller portion options would go a long way, and help make the experience more approachable price-wise.

The owner came out to say hello. This is first-class living in Iowa City.

Big expectations. Some met, others not so much. We gladly paid the corkage on a ten year old special Napa Cab we brought with us. We did get it decanted properly. A+ to the waitstaff. Started with Sourdough and shrimp cocktail. $15 Sourdough was dry and sent to the bin. Shrimp was fresh and crisp and poached well to that special cool crispness. Pea soup was amazing with great presentation. Duck egg pasta house made was also a highlight. Needed some peas and bacon in the pasta, but then that's a pasta carbonara right? Hint to the chef. Scallops were done to perfection and vegetables were fresh. We wanted red meat to go with the wine, but the only offering was a 52oz aged Waygu for $365. Not very couple friendly. We would have loved to order a sharable filet or smaller bone in ribeye. None were offered. Would have liked to see a whole fish option or at least something like Seabass or black cod offered. You won't find white tablecloths here, nor black or white table linen offered even though you would expect that at this price level. We lingered and did not feel rushed. Crowd was typical college town vibe. Parking is on the street, be prepared to walk.
