I have been visiting this restaurant for years and it is the only restaurant I always recommend. The food is always amazing, and I appreciate the gluten free options. The whole menu is fantastic. Staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is tranquil.

Finding good, healthy, vegan options while traveling is getting easier. Lunch today in Iowa City, IA was at the Trumpet Blossom Cafe. We shared:
Miso BBQ Mushroom Burrito with cup of curried lentil soup
Special of the day: Tofu Wrap
Mango Habanero Seiten wings
Buckwheat Corn cake
And it all was delicious. I look forward to going back again sometime.

This was a welcomed sight for a starving vegan traveler making their way westward as much of the rest of Iowa is a desert for quality vegan faire. The food here was whole food plant based - not merely a frozen beyond meat burger marketed up. The ambiance was great - very cute place. Limited paid street parking. Inside space was ample and the bar was beautiful - but I didn't have any drinks. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Played great music. Overall a very enjoyable stop.
I gave 4 stars because while the food was very tasty and fresh, I do feel the portions were small for the price. Maybe it's because I traveled across the vegan food desert and was hoping to stuff my gob and my expectations were misaligned, but I had a $16 falafel burger with a side of soup and I left hungry. I just don't think I should leave hungry a1fter spending $16 before gratuity. And, again, maybe I'm not used to the local economy.
Either way, as long as youre hip going in info highly recommend this place. It was cute, friendly, and very tasty.

I love Trumpet Blossom. I come here every time I come to Iowa city. The food is delicious and plant based. I am a meat eater, and yet I love all the dishes here. I feel like I miss nothing. As a gluten-free, dairy-free individual, I love knowing there's a restaurant I can come to, and I can nearly pick anything on the menu and know that it is safe for me to eat. They're also very conscious of gluten allergies and can accommodate with delicious options. This waste not, want not vibe make me feel at home and inclusive. I highly recommend the turmeric latte tastes wonderful, and it's full of antioxidants. You just can't beat going to a restaurant that gives you the vibe, the great food experience, and a feeling that you've enhanced your health when your done.
The gluten free bread is made locally, and possibly the best I’ve had (and I’ve tried many)! It was not flaky and didn’t break apart after taking a few bites. Got a side of the Seasonal Vegetables and sweet potato fries. Fries had a nice seasoning, but mine were a bit undercooked and not crispy.
Very nice, relaxed vibe in the restaurant with outdoor seating next to a small water creek for nice scenery.
I am not vegan, but do have a gluten and dairy intolerance. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful to cater to dietary restrictions.
