We originally bought tickets for the dueling pianos on a Friday night. We decided to make reservations and have dinner there. We started with the shrimp cakes and duck wontons. We also got a bourbon flight to try 4 different bourbons. We got the bone in Iowa chop with brussels and mash. We finished with the creme brulee and drinks. The shrimp cakes were good with a sweet chili sauce. The duck wontons were fantastic and awesome. I would order these any time, every time. The bourbon flight was not for me, not a bourbon person apparently. The main course was excellent. The Brussels were crispy and tasty. The mash was smooth and flavorful. It was a great compliment to the thick and juicy Iowa chop. The creme brulee was good and the drinks were decent. The shrimp cakes were good however I would rather order the duck wontons. The main course was fantastic and I would definitely order this again. The creme brulee was good, pretty standard brulee. The drinks were ok. I probably wouldn't order drinks, other than wine or beer, here as they are small and pretty pricey. The waiter was good though he did drop off towards the end and my drink order got list whether he forgot or the bar didn't do it but he did blame it on the bar. Overall, the food was excellent and worth the trip. I would say give it a try for good m, not so much the drinks.

We waited and tried to go up to the elevator from 4 pm till around 4.30 pm, but it was absolutely worth it. We loved the food, they were very tasty. Although we fall in love with the drinks... They were beyond praise ?? I would love to go back to visit this place again if I have a chance to travel Iowa again.

4.3 is WAYYYYY too low. Amazing views and food. Come on people, what more do you want?

I wish I could say I liked this place. During dinner, the food takes forever and is way overpriced. I recommend coming early or for lunch.

Server was a joke. Was sat at a table with wobbly chairs and the table was sticky. Food was sub par. Your paying for the view and that wasn’t as great either.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is amazing, it's quiet, dark, and calming with one of the best views you can find in iowa city. Servers, food runners, and host were very nice and personable people, service was a bit on the slower end but got the job done. The food and cocktails were quite a let down though, the cocktails were the most disappointing; I had heard of Vue due to their cocktails, but what I tasted lacked flavor and werent very memorable. The food was about a 6/10, not bad tasting but for the price point they are set at, it was quite disappointing, in particular the mac and cheese was drenched in oil, as a personal policy I never leave food on my plate, but the mac and cheese was hard to finish as in the end i was essentially just drinking butter oil.

Very cool top floor location with good food and drinks. Great view! Unusual and fun place. Took off a star because giant tvs really pulled focus from the view and the rest of the ambiance.

Taylor & Jenna were great to work with as we were planning and booking our private event. We had great communication up to and through the event. Food was very good and the view was very unique!

Overall, my experience was extremely disappointing. I ordered through their website for takeout. When I arrived, they weren’t even aware of my order, which I had placed 15 minutes earlier. The hostess confirmed she found it after I presented my confirmation email, and they went to work cooking. When my order finally came out 10 minutes after promised, they failed to follow any of my dietary requests (no dairy). I had to ask for items to be remade. The hostess apologized, which I appreciated.Dietary restrictions: I requested no dairy, and they did NOT follow the request at all.

The service was absolutely EXCELLENT, friendly and professional. The atmosphere was also great. Unfortunately, the food was a disappointment. I got the harvest salad, the goat cheese was missing and the "maple dijon vinaigrette" was (near as I could tell) just mustard and lots of it, it was the only flavor the dish had and it was overwhelming--even for someone who generally likes mustard. I ate less than half of it and was still nauseous from all the mustard. My companions ordered pork chops and fish, they said they were good but my bf mentioned after we left that his pork chop was still a bit pink. Not terrible, I might give the place another chance, but I'm not in any hurry to.

Wanting a good, healthier meal, I turned to the Vue Rooftop while in Iowa City. My dinner was a small Caesar salad, bisque soup, and vegetable pasta with grilled chicken. Accompanied by the Conundrum red blend… I was completely satisfied! The flavor spectacle was just that! It was, however, a little pricey. The atmosphere wasn’t super formal, or high-end, demanding the higher cost. Still, I would recommend this place for a spectacular view, and smooth setting.

Vue Rooftop is located at the Hilton Garden Inn and offers a pleasant elevated experience either withing its expansive interior dining room or out on the patio. As this is Iowa, the outdoor experience is seasonal.I was up here as part of a group of fellow University of Iowa alums who were in town for an Engineering Department Board meeting. We were just inside, but still with a bit of a view. We had a great time over drinks and dinner. Our service was friendly, helpful, and engaged. I thought that the menu was a bit limited, and the Caesar Salad that I chose was quite good. And between 1 glass of wine and a lot of sparkling water, I kept my alcohol consumption low, and my attention span high.
