I had clicked on call me if there was a problem with my order for delivery. NO call, just a message from DoorDash that what I had ordered was out of stock. So, without a call from the business, I had no option to order something else! So one person received their meal by delivery and one person didn’t receive one. Very poor business practice! Won’t order again!

Whenever I get downtown, this is where I try to go for a tasty, fresh, and cost effective dish. I've loved this place for the last couple of years at least and recommend it to anyone downtown.

We went to Z'Mariks as it was convenient and offered food choices we like (noodles and Mediterranean) . I ordered gyros. The pita was not grilled and promptly fell apart when I picked it up. The ingredients were good but very sparse for the price. My wife enjoyed her Noodle dish. There was nothing distinctive causing us to return.

Always consistently good with good portion sizes. Easy crown pleaser for indecisive groups too

Chris was amazing and professional. He made sure our catering event for RAGBRAI was a success. The food was great and the guest loved it.

My favorite restaurant ever! Great atmosphere, even better noodles.

Ordered the z'spicy peanut, substituted salad for noodles. Without noodles, the proportion size was pretty small. Paid around $12 so I was expecting it to be two meals or at least have some leftovers. It tasted like there were a handful of vegetables with peanut sauce thrown into a microwave, nothing innovative. Service was good, wasn't busy so my order was ready pretty quickly.

The food is delicious and affordable, especially on Saturdays when kids eat free with the purchase of an adult meal. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The menu has gluten free and vegan options, which is a huge plus.Vegetarian options: All of the pastas can be ordered without meat.Kid-friendliness: They offer free kids meals with purchase of adult meals. The atmosphere is very kid friendly.Parking: In typical iowa city fashion, the only parking is paid street parking or, if you want to walk half a mile, a parking garage.

Placed a lunch order for delivery via Chomp: one small mac and cheese and one small spicy peanut bowl with tofu. My food arrived 15 mins early which was great! The mac and cheese was made with those fun cavatappi noodles and had the perfect amount of cheese. The spicy peanut bowl was spicy. We ended up saving it for the next day and it was still really good reheated. Will definitely be back to check out the rest of the menu!

The service was excellent but the food is only okay. The atmosphere is very downtown Iowa City, most patrons and employees seem to be early 20s white students. I went for a late lunch so that may be part of why the server was so attentive. Noodles are not any better than the average person can make at home, but cheap ($6-$8) if you're in a pinch and just need a meal.

When I first moved here and tried Z'Mariks, I was underwhelmed by the lack of authenticity in some of the Asian dishes, and I was additionally disappointed by the lack of punchy flavors in some of the more Western dishes. Additionally, despite specializing in pastas, I have noticed that my noodles have come out overcooked on more than one occasion. However, after living here for longer, I realized that relative to other things in the downtown area, Z'Mariks is extremely good bang-for-buck. Midwestern cuisine is so degenerate, bland, and unhealthy, the sheer concept of a hot, made-to-order carb dish with vegetables is for some odd reason a rarity. Moreover, the menu is compact but guises an unexpected depth, making return visits varied and fresh. This is conceivably a place you could eat lunch everyday for a week and not grow too bored. You are guaranteed an inoffensive, relatively healthy meal.Z'Mariks has an undisputed niche in the downtown area, especially for lunchtime. It is significantly better than the utter overpriced trite served at Noodles and Company. In a desert absent of quality food, Z'Mariks embodies the Iowan culinary ideal of "good enough".

Good if you want quick noodle and rice dishes or maybe a gyro. I love their beer cheese soup; even if it is a little on the salty side. The Buffalo Mac and Cheese was really disappointing. So many things to try and different combinations of food you can make that I'll be back. The desserts looked really good. Wish they would add them to their online ordering platform. 5/5 stars for staff getting a larger office order together within about 45 minutes.
